Looking For My Doctor
I am concerned that some might not be reporting things because they are worried about repercussions or they simple are not comfortable interacting with reporting systems and having the attention of the staff brought onto them.
However, no one has been banned for a reason of “report abuse” in 11 months, but prior to that more than 2 dozen people were banned for it, and some of them complained that they “weren’t warned” that abusing the report tool was a bannable offense.
So - it appears to me that the warning worked, and is doing it’s job.
On the other hand, some of us are STILL receiving PMs reporting things - some very frequently - even though that feature has a similar warning about not reporting things via PMs.
So, on one hand, this warning on reports appears to have done it’s job, but we need to somehow get something equally effective on the Private Message feature.
So, maybe something less bold on the report feature might be better, and something stronger on the PM feature might help.
But in any case, and in all sincerity, at least a quarter of the people who I’ve seen come to ~~help to appeal a ban start “It was an honest mistake” ~~ even if that is arguably not evident - and they always seem to be the ones who ruleslawyer the hardest. So, while I want people to be more comfortable using the report feature, I’m not comfortable giving the people who are intentionally and maliciously breaking rules such an obvious a stepping stone.
This is all off the top of my head … and I haven’t heard of things not being reported except in those cases where people were worried that we would ban THEM instead.
Do you. personally, feel that you would report things more consistently if there was something at the beginning of that warning such as you suggest?
Have you, personally, found that the warning there is an impediment to you reporting things that you think you should have?
Hearing other people’s own experiences of this might help.
