"You know for kids" tag. Do we really need it?

I’ve been wondering this for a while now and I have to ask:
 
Do we really need it? It feels like a unnecessary tag… Could we get rid of it?

Personally I find it as an interesting ironic tag where to find moments of the show that got darker or unusually suggestive than what you would expect from a series of colorful tiny horses. I think if it serves the purpose of finding something specific, it’s alright to have it, but that’s just my thought anyway.

I just think that, since it’s been used on images that aren’t suggestive nor have mature context, it’s just become a waste of space tag.

I guess that’s actually the purpose; since all unedited screencaps of the show are marked as safe, if an scene is more violent, a bit more suggestive, or would potentially have a higher rating, the “you know, for kids” helps to find those moments where MLP went a bit beyond of what you would imagine, such as the battle of Twilight vs. Tirek

Ehh… Unedited screencaps would/should be tagged safe either way.
 
But what I’m talking about are images that AREN’T any of the things you mentioned though.

Oh, my apologises; I misunderstood your first paragraph of your previous post, I thought you were saying that those images should be tagged as suggestive and you didn’t find them as such.
 
I think if in a scene looks mature or not, it’s something subjective; all what I can say is that if you really believe that there’s an image that should not go under that tag because of feeling ‘forced’, you can delete it.
 
There’s still plenty of images that fit for the concept of the tag.

I just brought this up because I keep coming across perfectly safe images with it… Even when I delete it, it’s readded several hours later.

People using a tag wrongly isn’t a reason to delete it.
 
It’s a very important and popular tag. Almost 250 people watch it.
 
It would help if you provide some examples of what you think it’s used wrongly on.

I’m referring to images like the music video “The Other Side”.
 
Nothing about that is “you know for kids”…
 
Literally, the comments even prove that the “suggestive” stuff is actually the fans taking it out of context.

My opinion is anyone who thinks anything in “The Other Side” is worthy of the you know for kids tag, has a dirty mind and takes things out of context… Or just didn’t pay attention to the context.

She’s wearing a skintight bodysuit in half the scenes, and smiles seductively at the camera with bedroom lidded eyes.
 
One shot she’s even lying on her back and looks back at the camera to the point you can see a small cleavage line.

That’s not suggestive… I’ve seen images on here that do that and are tagged as safe
 
Also, it’s not that skintight.

I think it’s alright if you don’t find it mature, but many other people does and that’s why the nature of this tag can be subjective depending on what one thinks is more suggestive.
 
Personally, I agree with Cheezedoodle and I find it definitely more suggestive than what you could be expected from the show with the lidded eyes and posing positions from most of the short; it’s not just one frame, but various scenes. Though if I had to choose a word, I’d call it slightly sensual instead of sexual.

I find it sensual as well… Just, to me atleast, there’s a difference between suggestive and sensual. But hey, that’s just my opinion.

What I find wrong with the tag is that apparently nobody aliased Pinkie Pie, saloon dress to it. Because that’s practically what it was invented for.

Leave the tag alone, personally speaking.
 
I have used it more than once myself so I think it has usefulness.
