Actually, there have been some background/bit characters with similar “lanky” preportions before. Like Inky Rose, and such.  
Some other pony families have had similar colorings to each other too, so I don’t think anything was meant to be implied by their coloring.

Anyone ever notice how they’re all an abnormal shade of darkish blue to purple, some of them seem to be deformed looking, and are kinds hillbilly stereotypes. This has some rather unnerving implications. Methemoglobinemia Is a condition that causes an abnormal amount of methemoglobin in the blood resulting in the skin being a blueish color similar to oxygen deprived veins to a dark purple colo and anything in between, the exactly colors they mcolts all have, methemoglobinemia can be a genetic defect as a result of inbreeding. Theres also the fact that some of them seem to be deformed, such as being unusually thin and gangly(of note the two females in the picture) or the two larger males in the picture with the unusually long, thin, and curved faced that other ponies so far don’t seem to have, this would further support the inbreeding hypothesis,p. And then theres the fact that they seem to be designed after hillbilly stereotypes and how mlp writers seem to incorporate hidden stuff into the background

And yet, only the ‘hot’ females and the big guy have been named so far.

I kinda like the character designs in this ep’. Typical hick features aside, they are a li’l more creative & veried then the usual ponies we see in the show.

 
That girl’s mane kept reminding me of Lydia.
