Where was all of that now? Why had everything changed, and she hadn’t been able to notice it?
Gilda tried to hit the younger Pegasus with her claws, she hurled insults at her and finally forced her against a wall, but failed at hiding the tears escaping her eyes.
“Why?! Why can’t be just get back to what we once used to be?” The Griffon pretended to be impetuous and frightful, but her faltering voice clearly showed that her heart was slowly and painfully breaking. Her threats and aggressive questions sounded more like sorrowful pleas, her clenched claws and flared wings a sign of the weakness that was taking control in her.
“I can’t forgive you. It’s too late, Gilda. It’s too late…” Rainbow Dash spoke in a calm and sure voice, she seemed to be fearless even though she was violently pinned on her back and she could sense her former lover’s wrath attacking her silently.
The older gently grazed the Pegasus’ cheek with her talon and stared into her eyes for what seemed to be an endless time. A wave of past happy memories washed over the Griffon as more tears streamed down her face. She made a desperate attempt to grasp onto them as if she could live them again, but realized how useless it was. Rainbow Dash’s poker face hurt her, stabbed her deeply and made her want to avenge. She wanted to slap her, punch her, scratch her face, make her feel the same pain she was going through. Instead, all she managed to do was to kiss the light blue Pegasus.
Rainbow Dash squirmed and flailed, but it was to no avail as Gilda pressed onto her lips even harder. She could sense and taste the Pegasus’ disgust and fear, now. She could almost hear her thoughts running wildly in her mind, screaming at her to escape from the brash action.
The blue pony succeeded in getting free of the bigger creature’s grip and she shoved her away without saying anything. She remained silent even when the two stared at each other, the former standing still and resolute, the other beginning to break down as she slowly lowered her head.
“I’m s-sorry, Dash… I’m so sorry…” The stuttered words coming from the deep of the Griffon’s heart made Rainbow Dash back away from her, a single tear flowing down her cheek. Her brows furrowed and she panted slightly, but she refused to speak. As she turned to fly off, she could hear Gilda begging her to forgive her, to come back to her. Shaking her head, though, she pretended to ignore her beseeching words and took flight into the night sky.
Suffering and sorrow took the place of anger and blindness in the Griffon’s soul, and standing there with her claws grasping onto the ground was all she could do. She felt her chest tighten and hurt as she breathed hoarsely and cried more, and a painful twing of guilt and bitter regret wounded her even deeper as she noticed a light blue feather in front of her.
“I used to love you, Dash… I-I truly did…”
