More accurately, Rainbow said that Twilight is cute when Twilight looks like Rainbow (as a joke), but Twilight misinterpreted that and said that she wouldn’t mind spending time together with Rainbow.

So it’s Rainbow Dash being narcissistic and Twilight being slightly oblivious.

Business as usual, in other words.
