Emerald listens in on one of the nearby conversations, but it doesn’t seem to be of anything of great import. They are mostly talking about what sort of work they are going to search for tomorrow, how their families are, and what their plans for the future are.
Emerald shakes his head to clear his thoughts. He needs to find Ruby. Ducking into a corner he quickly attempts to write a letter in the almost non-existent light. He writes Ruby and tells her to meet up with him somewhere. He isn’t sure where he should tell her to go though.

It’s not that I feel strongly about it, I don’t really care that much. It’s just you never know if some people who like Colt Quest might have the tag blocked for whatever reason and may be missing out on something they may actually be okay with, you know?
Right now, though, I gotta get to bed so I’ll think about it some other time.
If you feel that’s necessarily. I am a bit curious myself. Though if you feel that strongly about the rating I suppose you could go ahead and change the tag.
Because there’s nothing happening here that’s “mildly dark”; it’s just Emerald looking around for Ruby and writing a letter.
Remember that post with Emerald in shackles while he was being interrogated by Lord Sepulcher? Something like that would be semi-grimdark because it’s an imprisoned colt under the threat of being killed.
Maybe we should have a mod’s opinion on this.
That’s probably how most people here do it. But whenever I’ve tagged something I always tried to take the subject matter in the description into account when giving it a rating. (For example: SFW pic but sex scene in the description)

So the tags are determined by the descriptions as well on derpi? I thought the only thing that is tagged is what is seem in the picture.
The tag says “mildly dark but not horrifying or crushingly depressing.” And given the context of what’s going on in the story I feel that it fits. What makes you feel that it doesn’t?

I’m gonna have to agree with the poster with the weird username. In fact, I realize the past dozen or so uploads have all been labeled semi-grimdark when I think almost none of them really warrant it. Look up the tag and that should give you an idea of what sort of criteria passes for it.
She can read some. We just need to make it simple and clear.
Well Emerald is alone searching for a friend who might be in the process of being tortured. While risking being captured and tortured himself. I suppose I could make it safe.
