yeah, four legged carnivorous active hunters. Ima go out on a limb and say that ponies don’t have that “go for the throat” instinct that other carnivores have. :p
 
and even then, you might as well not be using the sword with a handle on it at all anymore. That’s the real problem here, the handle isn’t doing anything now.
 
stuff like this is why I love when people custom design weapons for the ponies instead of taking weapons designed for us and trying to make it work for them.

In my opinion, holding the blade make thing easier than holding the handle (when it come to using your mouth). Sure the range is shorter, but the weight distribution won’t hinder your movement as much. Plus, it’s normal for four-legged animal to go straight for the throat with their teeth anyway, so getting up close and personal like that is fine.
