Makes sense from a logical aspect. But this @Eeveeinheat is pretty much where my problem starts and ends. Well, not really. It started with the terrible way they approached the season ending. Haven’t stopped being salty since.

Now this is a design that they should’ve went with in my personal opinion. ^^

While I see your point and I understand what they were going for, I still think the change was way too sudden and too big to just take in. I’m not going to tell you you are wrong because that’s very subjective, I’m just giving my opinion on the design.
 
There’s a couple of things I disliked about that ending and the “new” changelings is one of those things. It’s still an amazing finale, definitely a top 3 for me. But that ending could’ve been better in my opinion.

Okay? Doesn’t change the fact that their design, not their intention, is sub-par when compared to their other designs. But let’s agree to disagree.

I said this on another image but I’ll say it here; they have shown that dark colors don’t mean bad (Luna, Starhunter, a few others), however, changelings embodied the aspects of bugs that most people don’t like. This includes the holes, the hard shell body with the soft abdomen, the buzzing wings, and the pupil less eyes. They also were like a mockery of the alicorn.
 
When they shifted to become a race that was now kind, the form change now reflects the aspects that most people like about bugs, such as bright vibrant colors and ornamental bodies and even glimmering wings.
 
They also don’t quite resemble ponies anymore, but resemble deer, which is an inventive play on words since Thorax is quite literally a Rainbow Stag, but also shows that they are their own people now, not relying on subterfuge to get through life.

with the actual canon look, it seems black isn’t a good color for nice characters :/

Or already have thought of their abilities. Although, I think about at this time, animation hasn’t yet begun, but S07’s scripts are probably nearly finished if not all finished.

He could probably shapeshift into is old form if he wanted to. Considering they didn’t show anything off right away, they have a whole season break to think of what they can do with them.

Now this would have been a decent changeling metamorphous.

I can see how this would have been nice to have him transform but keep his original color scheme. Honestly I would have been happy either way.

I really enjoy this color palette :D
