So, he casts a spell that will let him communicate with a being from any world that could set him on the path to find what he’s looking for. But, when the spell is cast, he opens an escape route for Gralo as he flees from Nahmat. When Gralo passes through the gate, he sees Garret, and hides himself inside him. Nahmat comes through immediately afterward, and, unable to recognize Garret as anything more than a disguise adopted by Gralo, attacks.The rest is history as you know it.
