Because they like it? Not everything has an ulterior motive, you know.
It’s more of a “SciLight push Timber Spruce toward Applejack in order to ship them” scenario where artist tries to damage control Fluttercord. Not sure if this was used here by mistake or intentionally like in Stepandy pictures but is still an uncool move. Just make them make out if it’s just a ship. Why even include other characters from opposite ships.
You do realize that “I like this ship so I’m going to ship it and fuck what canon says” does not count as “misinterpreting” anything, right?
When characters are somewhat involved in shipping in canon, they usually create more commotion. Like Cadance being shipped with somoene other than Shining or Flash being shipped with anyone at all. In this case it’s a big misintepretation of the relationships between Discord, Fluttershy and Celestia and whats really happening on the show.

Yeah, I mean this SHOULD have been obvious after we had Discord throwing Celestia to Tartarus while laughing like few hours before that flower scene.

There’s two bouquets of flowers for both Luna and Celestia, besides Mehgan herself said it was only an apologetic gesture.
FLower thing was an obvious misinterpetation since every other episode after that had Discord not care at all about Celestia. Especially Gala episode and Chrysalis episode. While he constantly shown his dedication to Fluttershy and recently FLuttercord became semi canon after the blushing scene. S7 will clear things up but there is no doubt that Dislestia has lost it’s 0,1% chance for canon after that episode.

Anyway, for everyone, please don’t take this too seriously. We have better things to do that start a war over ships which will likely ever become canon, and I’m referring to both Fluttershy and Celestia.
If Fluttershy noticed the attraction between this two she would be first person who support their relationship. But no one can control someone’s feelings.
Come on, even Fluttershy ships them.
