No its not they’re neglecting him. Season 7 has very close tie ins with the IDW comics. Sunburst is researching the Legends of Magic in the comics and some of it has already appeared on the show while the comics are referencing very accurate things from the episodes.
 
This means that all through out season 7, Sunburst isn’t even in the Crystal Empire. He’s been in Canterlot all this time and that dinner date between him and Starlight in Canterlot really happened.

Unintentionally, as he was sent away by his parents. However, had he known what would happen to Starlight, I think he would not leave her.
 
Also these two need a lot more screen time, especially Sunburst as he has only got like one appearance so far this season. Its like the writers are deliberately neglecting him or that they forgot he even exists.

This is why I can ship them. It’s not your typical romance in that Sunburst isn’t big and strong, he’s no knight in shining armor, and he’s not an alpha. How often does the beta get the girl? Not very, and being a small, nerdy beta myself, I can root for this.

Every time I look at these Starburst images I get such a fuzzy feeling that I can’t stop smiling.

EDIT: I just realized people are so easy to trigger here. If I enjoyed being an asshole, I’d be triggering people all the time and laugh my ass off at how angry they get.

If you were just saying he could be used as a brony self-insert character, or heck, even that it’d be hard to design a better brony self-insert, no, you wouldn’t need a citation. But you’re saying Josh Haber (and/or possibly other writers) deliberately designed him to be a brony self-insert, and that I’m not buying without a citation.

Why would you need citation for that? Just use your brain. He’s not big and strong like Bright Mac. He’s not a knight in Shining Armor like… Shining Armor or Flash. I would even go as far as he’s beta as Spike (who I thought was originally the bornie self insert.) To top it off he’s portrayed as a shut in and a nerd. I know not all bronies are like that but if you’re a grown man that likes cartoons, anime, collectible toys, etc, you gotta be a bit of a nerd at some degree.
 
I wonder if someone’s going to over react that I’m using the terms “shut in” and “nerd” as negative. Nowadays its not. I myself am both. I hate hanging out with people because I can’t be my freely autistic self around them. And none of the people I know at work collect Transformers figures.

Lol. He’s talking about Glimmerfags that waifu Starlight. Its the most ridiculous thing to be salty about. Sunburst is designed as a self insert for most bronies (which is something that cannot be said about Mr. Perfect Flash.) Lol. Just self insert oneself as Sunburst and BAM problem solved. A ridiculous solution to a ridiculous problem.

I know that cloak was designed to make him look more like a wizard but I’d like to think it will one day be used for him to wrap it around Starlight. That’s like a banner flag of victory right there. You don’t need words to explain anything on screen. It just says “hey fans look, we’re canon.”

I don’t think she will ever find another stallion that will treat her so nicely
