Yeah. They would have teleported to the Everfree Forest to retrieve the Elements of Harmony when the Storm King and Tempest Shadow attacked Canterlot so they can defeat the Storm King and Tempest.

True but they didn’t have the Elements on them cause they’re stored in the Tree of Harmony in the Everfree Forest which they are absent in the movie at the time.

But the pearl wasn’t the only way to defeat the Storm King and save Equestria. Twilight lied about something to save Equestria and defeat the Storm King. The Mane Six would have used the Elements of Harmony to defeat the Storm King and save Equestria.

You mean that Twilight is the one who pulled the trigger, not trusting her friends or listening to Queen Novo while trying to borrow the pearl, accusing and lashing out and the Mane Five, failing friendship, ruining everything, and gives up saving Equestria from the Storm King’s tyranny of Equestria?

Twilight, what are you doing? Twilight! Stop! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Then you’re probably gonna like the book this picture came from, because there are a few extra calling-outs and “I can’t believe I did that!” moments to be had, just in case you didn’t know they aren’t the proudest of their choices (though I’d think the movie alone will do a good enough job of that).

But anyway, while Twilight’s friends do make a few poor calls, they’re not really numerous, per se. The only one that really stands out is the Sonic Rainboom that lets Tempest find them. An egregious oversight, yes, and something only Twilight considered a serious possibility, but it can be attributed to the fact that Tempest was taking an awfully long time to catch up to them, since she was literally right behind them during their last encounter, so they figured they managed to lose her.
