After Twilight opened Pandora’s box, all magic in Equestria started to decay. She found only way to save Equestria - she sacrificed herself and became magic itself. Later she would return as an Alicorn WITHOUT ANY MEMORIES, so now her friends can teach her the magic of friendship.
So maybe they’ll do something similar…

She still will be a blank slate, and her past will be the way to be “The Chosen One”.
Oh… I actually remembered an example - Hercules.
Plus there were a lot of stories where characters got through amnesia.
Maybe there will be legends about immortal godlike creatures that disappeared thousands of years ago. (Actually, now it sounds like a Steven Universe a bit)
It’s not necessarily the way to go, but it has slight possibility.

Luke Skywalker basically. Starts off as a Belle-esque small town Earth Pony blank flank, gets her broken CM, and then progressively becomes an Archmage Princess. What you suggested doesn’t really allow the new audience to experience her growth, because she’s trying to relearn what she already knows.

Can you please clarify, what do you mean?
They’re more likely to go the Hero’s Journey, zero to Hero route. Easier to sell to kids.
Or what if it’s actually a sequel to g4. Equestria got destroyed and Twilight sacrificed her magic and wings to rebuild it. History begin anew in that world, but Twilight got comatose and g5 begins with Twilight waking from her slumber without her memories and now as an earth pony.

And Twilight gets to cheat!
Of course, my prediction here is that Twilight starts the series off as an adult Blank Flank, her finally achieving her gamebreakinig CM being the “Elements of Harmony Laser” moment of the premiere, with season 1 of G5 being centered around Twilight figuring out her CM and dealing with racism from both Earth Ponies and Unicorns. Pegasi find this absolutely hilarious.

Earth Ponies can only use Spells related to their Cutie Marks, while unicorns can use any magic they can learn. At least, that seems to be the gist of it.

G5 is an entirely new concept! I don’t see any problem with each sort of pony having some kind of magic.
