The top circled one is a regular filter. You just add a tag in it, and then that tag alone is gone. Complex filter is a little different. There, you’re supposed to put parenthesis in, and put in multiple tags. Example: (Radiant Hope AND grotesque) If I didn’t want to see my favorite pony in that situation.
 
But, you can put in just one tag in here, and it’ll still filter it fine. And, since it’s technically a complex filter, it’ll only show a plain spoiler image (Just Celestia facing you) and it will only read “complex filter” in the thumbnail.
