We’ve known this for awhile. The only difference is that most dragons are smarter and more mature in their assholery.
It’s more like they just don’t like happy endings in their stories. Scales is never said to have been a real dragon. Sentimentality is just seen as a bad thing in their culture though, as others have pointed out.
