For me, I believe there’s another way, some kind of artifact or so, for Celestia and Luna to carry out their duties in case of emergencies like this. As in School Raze, all unicorn magic was snuffed out in the first day, yet somehow the Sisters still managed to maintain the day-night cycle through three days.

If we go by ‘the sisters are not born alicorns’ theory it would mean that only HER inherent magic got taken away and not the moon magic that was granted to her during ascension or something.  
Like you could steal Alicorntwi’s Magic but her ability to shoot unified friendship rainbow beams would still retain.

‘Measure a pony’s potential for Good or Evil’? I get the idea that Glimmer, Sunset, Trixie, and even Twilight would all measure pretty high on that thing if we go by their past actions.
 
Heck, run Diamond Tiara by it. Yes she’s good now but she used to be a bully (and besides, at least they’d be using her then!).

Other than that, I’m so confused (as I’ve taken a break from the show and official comics). Who is Eris? Not Rule 63 Discord? What other Celestia? What power did Eris steal from Luna, how and when? What is going on?
 
You don’t have to answer my questions, I just wanted to epress my confusion - this is what happens when you stop watching the show but still watch the fandom.
