They’re still biologically female, their reproductive system is just almost absent, there’s more to sex than the reproductive system after all, such as dna and whatnot.

That’s correct. Also here’s a fun related bug fact. With some species of ants, the female workers ants can actually reproduce.

No functioning reproductive organs. In bees, female larvae don’t develop functional ovaries or ovipositors unless fed a steady supply of royal jelly throughout their development.
How are non-reproductive females sexless?
Well, they’re also more or less hive bugs, so it also makes sense that almost all of them would be non-reproductive females– essentially sexless and genderless– with a small number of drones being reproductive males. Unless the Changedlings without horns signify some kind of sexual dimorphism, they honestly seem like a completely genderless society aside from whoever’s in charge being tagged with Queen or King.
Well technically they could be straight or gay while still being willing to have sex will people of either sex. Their sexuality would be based on which sex(if not both) they prefer when being a certain sex. Ex: a straight changeling would only have sex with females when they are male and only have sex with males when they are female.
Plus from an evolutionary perspective it would make more sense for a changeling’s default sexuality to be the changeling version of straight, after all heterosexuality is the only that is efficient at reproduction

Why wouldn’t they be? Personally I think they’re more likely to be pan– since they can feed off the love/friendship of anyone capable of feeling those emotions– but realistically, any sexuality fans assign to any of the characters in this show is going to be headcanon.
It’s the only explanation i would expect.
