I think that the person that drew this either recently lost a parent or hasn’t lost a parent at all. After a while, these kind of things go away.

The one thing we do know is one of her parents is from Granny Smith’s side and the other is related to the Orange’s in some form. (Most likely siblings seeing they’re AJ’s aunt and uncle.)

Pretty soft for a Sony.
We may never know the full canonical details of her parents…  
But what ever they are, they don’t seem to cause AJ any grief or sadness, or maybe this picture has it right.  
She could be so caught up on focusing on every other ponies feelings, she just never shows how she feels on the inside.

oh man. This is EXACTLY how I felt last Father’s Day. It’s a day to celebrate you father up until the day you lose him. From that day forward it’s just a way for every form of media reminding you that other people are having fun with their living dads, while yours is dead.
