Story :  
Having a Cutie Mark is a purpose for everypony, that’s why when Nightlight Aura and her friend Star Eyes met two strange ponies with the same Cutie Mark, the first question was “how it’s possible ?” The mare giggled and told the two friends about her village with everypony having a Cutie Mark just like her and the stallion with her. Curious, Nightlight and Star Eyes agreed to follow them to this village and the mare was right, every single pony had an Equal Cutie Mark and a big empty smile on his face.  
“Welcome !” said one pony, then another and another again. Both mares don’t know if they’re supposed to be friendly or worried until a unicorn came to them, the leader of this village apparently. “Welcome to our town you two, I’m Starlight Glimmer, the pony in charge around here. You certainly have some questions about our village and the fact that we all use the same Cutie Mark, if you’re willing to follow me to the cave near here the answer should be clear.” With a nod, the two pegasi proceed to walk behind Starlight. Once inside the cave the two watched at a massive transparent wall with a large number of Cutie Mark in it.  
“All the former Cutie Mark of our community are here, we like to keep them sealed away from our philosophy” informed Starlight before she grab a stick “And thanks to the help of this stick I can use my magic to free anypony from a meaningless life with a Cutie Mark… would you like me to show you ?” concluded the unicorn with a mischievous smile on her face and before Nightlight or Star Eyes can flew away, the others members of the village trapped them by preventing any escape, a big smile on the lips
 
“Starlight, this isn’t funny, let us go !” yelled Nightlight but Starlight gave no answer and pointed the stick to her, in a flash of magic, Nightlight was carrying in midair, with a face of terror and fear, she can feel her Cutie Mark being… ripped apart from her flank and one second later, she felt heavily on the ground, Star Eyes watched in horror the Cutie Mark of her friend being closed in one of the empty section of the transparent wall and when Nightlight finally regain consciousness, her flank was mark with the same equal Cutie Mark as the rest of the village. “What have you done to my friend ?!” screamed Star Eyes in anger. “Only what was best for her, trust me, she will thank me later, now it’s your turn.” answered Starlight before doing the same thing with the second pegasus and asked the others villagers to capture them and lead them to the “Reformation House”.  
The house in question was in fact like a jail cell with only one empty room, water, food and a few books but all of them had the equal sign of the village in each page, even the window was made to form the sign with the light of the sun.. Both mares was now trapped and a voice started to talk in a old speakers.  
“In sameness, there is peace. Exceptionalism is a lie. Free yourself from your cutie mark. Choose equality as your special talent. Difference is frustration. To excel is to fail. Be your best by never being your best. Conformity will set you free. Accept your limitations, and happiness will follow. You’re no better than your friend.”
 
Trapped, with nowhere to go and this voice keeping the same phrases, it was worst than a torture. Every second, every minute, every hour, the voice was there with the two pegasi friends and each new day, Starlight opened the door to ask if one of them is willing to join the village and let the life with a Cutie Mark behind her, the answer was no from both everytime but Starlight didn’t listen and just closed the door, leaving Nightlight and Star Eyes in this room for another entire day, the voice keeping the same speech at the point she managed to enter in the head of the mares during the night. Maybe Starlight was right… maybe this is real friendship ? A life without any competition against the two, no one better than the other… no… they can’t let Starlight win… but they must admit, Starlight and her philosophy had valid points, you can’t have Harmony if everypony is different… each of them fell asleep with the voice still active and repeating the philosophy of the unicorn again and again… and at each passing second of the night, the smile on the face of the two only grew…  
The next day, when Starlight asked them, the two mares answered positively with a large smile, the same smile as everypony else. The unicorn grinned and proceed to talk to the village. “We have two new friend today everypony !” The entire village welcomed them with opened hooves, but Starlight hadn’t finished yet. “But in order to welcomed them properly, we need to gave them a little… mane cut… follow me you two.” Nightlight and Star Eyes followed her to the maindresser and thirty minutes later, both friends now had one of the three mane style of the mares in this village and a large empty smile, matching the conformity Starlight taught them.
 
Two days later  
Life was never better for Nightlight Aura and Star Eyes since Starlight opened the eyes of the two, the entire village helped them feel just like home. But the unicorn gave them a mission, like the two ponies who guided them to this village, each of them was tasked to go outside the village and bring back some ponies to “enlighten” to the philosophy of Starlight. During a talk in Cloudsdale, one stallion approach.  
“Excuse me but, why do you have the same Cutie Mark ?” “We came from a village full of ponies with this same Cutie Mark, if you’re accepting to follow us, our friend Starlight Glimmer can explain everything to you… and even show it to you…” answered Nightlight, her smile matching the one of Star Eyes…
