He doesn’t use it for evil anymore. In fact, it’s debatable if he ever used it for evil. Even when he was an antagonist, he was more interested in messing with ponies and making things crazy than outright hurting them.

Ah I see what your trying to say. The thing is by the end of the series discord has changed a bit from his original established character. Discord the spirit of Chaos & Disharmony itself means conflict, lack of harmony or agreement. So him trying to make friends is quite interesting.
If his mindset can change like that surely the idea of keeping order by making sure villains can’t cause any more chaos would as well. I think if u were to ask Discord if he deserved to get turned to stone back in the day now that he would say Yes. Not to say he is against chaos eos truly but it seems to be on the lines of enjoying controlled/small chaos and/or using chaos for good such as helping a friend.
So I guess it is a bit hypocritical but only truly, if u forgot his character development from how his character originally was.

What part in my comment did a specifically say “Discord was calling them tyrants”? Go read my comment again, cause I never said that. I said Discord was taunting Celestia in season 2 about her abusing her power to turn ponies into stone if they chose to not follow what she considers to be “order” which makes him a hypocrite, because the series ended with him turning the 3 villains to stone, instead of trying to convince them into being good, like they did with Discord in season 3.

He’s not calling them tyrants tho anon, your taking the scene out of context. First off Luna was the one who insulted his very nature. In he’s correcting her. Starlight for example used order in a dangerous way back in the day.

Problem is, the show never showed that side of Celestia becoming a full evil tyrant, Luna however, DID become an evil tyrant when she became Nightmare Moon, but that was AFTER they turned Discord to stone. And the thing Discord taunted Celestia about “I’m not the one who turns ponies to stone” was hypocritical of him at the end of the series, because not only did he pursue Celestia and Luna into their old ways of keeping balance and order in Equestria, but he also did the same thing he mocked them for doing, turning ponies and other creatures to stone, so that makes him a big fat hypocrite like them.

Well Discord’s point here is in a retort to Luna seeing chaos as inherently bad. Discord points out that chaos is not necessarily evil, and a necessary counterpoint to tyranny. Not good either, but he has the capacity for both.
not to say that he is necessarily calling them dictators but that is a good example in how order can be bad.
