Devil’s advocate: How often do you think Dash picks up a newspaper, much less reads the whole thing?
“You know what? I’m retiring. Effective now. Equestria’s all yours, well, half yours. HEY, LUNA!”
“In fact, you probably would have done better without me.”
…then.
As far as she was concerned, it was fiction.
“- in spirit.”
“But… that’s the same as not being there.”
“No, it’s completely different. I might not be there, but I wish I was there yet I’m not. See what I mean?”
“… I’m not taking back what I said.”
Yeah that is pretty dumb
the only way it would work if it takes place out of Equestria
But it is a different kind of reading altogether if it’s based on true events, so it does still mess with that lesson.
Which is again incredibly ridiculous. Someone would have caught on and blown the whistle years ago if any of it were all true. Where’s your crystal ball now, Celestia? Oh that’s right, you’ve been too busy spying on Twilight all this time to notice this kind of stuff…
Well the message of “reading is good”
Still works since they’re autobiographies
Truth is stranger than fiction afterall
You’re their center of attention*
Well you know the offcial material law with shipping:
Only teases allowed, all else is denied…
Though it would be better if they followed the stalker-Dash premise to show that people, idols, friends or otherwise, have more to with their life than hanging around with you or doing things you want.
Thus you shouldn’t think you’re not their center of attention and life
Or make DD a bit more of a Jerk for showing that even if they’re jerks IRL,doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate other people’s work or goals if they’re understandable and agreeable.
I can’t work up the nerve to ruin rainbow for me because I like her more than twilight and DD just made more damn sense as a purely fictional character for Rainbow to pine after.
The summary just sounds so…bad. It really should have been just a fanfic of Rainbow’s. Maybe something she submits to AK Yearling, and at the end of the episode she’s shown getting a letter shooting her down, and has to learn a lesson about coping with disappointment or something? It would have had so many nice Twidash moments if it had gone that way instead.
I consider that one of the most cringe-worthy episodes so far. It’s all fine and good to have a little action now and then, but that alone just can’t carry this kind of show for me. The story made absolutely no sense. It was more like Rainbow Dash’s wet dream than something witty and subtle and well-developed. Every time I summarize it in my mind, it sounds like a bad fanfic:
>Daring Do is real
>Her books are actual autobiography
>Rainbow Dash meets her in the middle of an adventure, squees all over the place
>Eventually “learns” the value of self-aggrandizement as a counter to being a groupie fangirl
The only thing I really liked about it was Dr. Caballeron. Overall, it was predictable (which is plenty forgivable, if the episode’s other aspects make up for it, but sadly, no such luck), based on a completely irrational premise, AND terribly executed. I give it 2 shiny gold plot devices out of 5.
And the rest of the points….?
YMMV on the execution….
Well from what I read of plot summarisation:
RD wish fulfilment with a bit of…I don’t know what to call it,but still it’s a bit annoying that DD with the cliches aren’t actual writing as much as journal/diary publishing laced with a few lies :P.
I don’t see it a much more appealing premise than EG,IMO on the execution though…
Really?
You consider Daring Don’t less enjoyable than EG?
Again, it was at LEAST as good as the show’s average. Think of “Daring Don’t” for a very recent example of just how bad the story can get when the writers are being lazy. Honestly, I’m not even willing to call EqG as bad as that one, which is why I prefer to say it measures up to no worse than the show’s typical quality.
Well, she DID keep a diary at one point.
Throne
So she won’t bother writing them down or remembering them?
She’s a ruler for a (+)thousand years for Pete’s sake, holding the thrown/constantly taking the throen back requires more than just brainless actions and other fictional immortals used their uncountable lifespan to learn, why not her?
Nevermind the constant need for manipulation, scheming and mathematic knowledge required in Politics ,Economics and possibly military which are involved with ruling a country.
unless she still has a normal pony’s mind and so can only remember things that are so far back
