It’s the same thing with Bill O’Reilly. Sometimes he seems like a smart businessman just playing to his audience, and then he’ll say something completely bonkers.

Glenn Beck is an enigma to me. I can never decide whether he’s a calculating opportunist who says crazy things for ratings or a sincerely principled person who happens to be crazy.

After thinking about it for a bit, I think Glenn Beck is a satirist. He does reports where he follows the extreme right in a way that shows how ridiculous they are, while also being a normal sane person.

Glenn Beck supports bronies? That’s it, I’m leaving the fandom.

As a person, I bear him no ill will, but as a literary enthusiast, Overton Window is pretty bad.

It feels weird for me to agree with Glenn Beck on something as much as I am. The sensation… is fascinating to me.

I may have some disagreements with him mostly in the lines of religion (he’s Mormon, I am Protestant)
 
I just wish the radio station in my area still carried him, been meaning to hunt down where else he might be carried.

I think this is just a ploy of his, to try to get on the good side of (a) parents and (b) bronies.

Come on guys, I know most of you disagree with his politics, but can’t we ALL come together to appreciate what he is doing? He’s sticking up for the bullied, for the bronies whose own family dislike them for being bronies, for anyone who is different. Can’t we all just say “Well, this is pretty cool.”?

Oh I know that. In fact that just makes him even more of an asshole, at least if he was legit insane he would be honestly trying to help somewhat. But he’s really just a sleazebag profiting off the paranoid and gullible.
 
But what’s sad is that he’s not even the worst, far from it. Just look up Bryan Fischer or Klingenschmitt, both say far more horrible things in one day than Beck does in a month. They would also have told the kid with the pony backpack he should have been killed, at least Beck cared, or pretended to.

The end result was a larger audience. Beck isn’t really a conspiracy nut, he’s a less-than-honest actor profiting off of them.

Like when he warned against an EMP from an enemy nation and his answer was to buy food insurance from his sponsor?

He usually is, he also, several times, has claimed to have this awesome proof and evidence for some conspiracy or another and says “Just wait for tomorrows show!” and never mentions them again.
 
Like this when he says he has evidence that the Boston Marathon Bombing was an inside job. And then this where he promises great change in 24 hours. What was the end result of this? Nothing, hardly even a peep in future shows.

He is a very very odd person and what we’ve seen is probably more a persona made for political entertainment and propaganda than anything else.
 
He’s also one of the biggest publicly outspoken supporters for gay marriage / LGBT rights from the right.

I loathe that man so much, but least this shows he can be a rational, caring individual at least some times. Though I understand Stalin was a loving, caring farther so anything is possible.

He plays to the ultra right-wing conspiracy theory sort of crowd in general. He’s not so much Alex Jones but they have many of the same sponsors. You know, the “Buy hazard seeds, invest in gold” types of sponsors. They draw a specific audience.
 
Beck is one of those doomsday ultra faith types who likes to put up pictures on chalkboards and draw lines between them. He’s less an idealogue and more a cult of personality.
