Actually, all those artists you just listed, except for maybe the first and third, are kinda shit… they definitely don’t capture the same smooth sort of aesthetic charm as scorp here, and in Hazura’s case is outright stiff - not to mention they have far smaller galleries than scorp, and, style/aesthetic aside, I’m pretty sure that more often than not technical aspects like anatomy are butchered as well. So far, it doesn’t seem like scorp has… any, of these issues. At all.

And for the record, there’s a reason that whole “Joseco=sameface” fad isn’t taken seriously by anyone with any modicum of respectability or talent, and that’s because it’s literally nothing but whining and petulant name-calling from self-conscious, insecure, contrarian neck-beard hacks who feel that they somehow grant themselves a shred of self-worth by mocking one of the top artists of the fandom. Too bad there’s no actual excuse or justification to bash him, but of course inconvenient facts like that aren’t a problem for people with an agenda. After all, it’s easy to pretend that faces look the same when they don’t; just ignore absolutely everything about the image ever. Celly knows those guys are experts at that.

You know, everyone is allowed to post their opinions and critiques.
That’s against no rule. But that last post violated two rules in my opinion: #0 and #7.
Don’t insult people, no matter what people, and don’t make explicit comments under a safe-rated image.

About the whole argument:
If I learned one thing in this community than that arguing about opinions is nothing but a huge waste of time. Nothing will ever be accomplished. (Apart from mutual hate for each other)

Opinions and preferences can never be wrong or right. This is a very important lesson.

So could we please cut this now? If you guys really wish to continue this discussion I suggest doing it per PM or in IRC.

One thing is to criticize a piece of art - the other is to criticize people who like said art. You cannot judge others for having a different taste to yours - THAT was the big mistake you made, anon.

Why not come back when you have an appropriate range of vocabulary and criticisms to be able to tell us what to like, and what not to like? Until such a time, I can claim that the brilliant minimalism expressed in >>560651 (deleted) makes it the single best humanization on the site, and while I’ll be patently incorrect, you’ll find it difficult to argue the point.

The artists you linked to may well be better than scorpdk, but you’re not really making much of a case to establish that… And to be honest, I don’t think you’re capable of making that case.

Like you said, people like what appeals to them versus those who don’t. All goes back to individual taste. The artists you linked too, I enjoy their characterizations as well. It’s when one steps back and looks at all of them as a whole that people will see and identify what looks great to them and which do not.

I’ll agree to your argument concerning criticism, but bare in mind there a a great many other artist who also do same face with their characterizations. Usually I look at the whole of the character being drawn. Things likes facial expressions, color, physical actions, etc.

Why must you feel you have to vocalize your opinions if you know there will be others who will hold their own against yours?

Because even if it doesn’t change the opinions of the people I’m arguing against, criticisms should still be vocalized and they should still be heard. Going by your logic, if a bunch of people that condone child abuse start publicly voicing their opinions, should you stay silent just because they disagree with you? Not voicing your criticisms and opinions can stop people from hearing another, possibly more reasonable side of an argument and can lead to communities developing a hivemind mentality.

Saying people should silence themselves for the sole reason that others might not agree with them is anti-intellectual and downright pathetic. All you’re doing is persecuting unpopular opinions and supporting total conformity.

Ultimately, whether you think the artist’s work is good or bad is your choice. It’s the artist’s decision if they should change their drawing style or not.

Again, all art has different forms and styles. Why must you feel you have to vocalize your opinions if you know there will be others who will hold their own against yours?

@Muffen-Man
>you’re not an artist, therefore you have no right to criticize art.
Am I not allowed to criticize the show, either? Or anything, for that matter?

I can’t even compare the quality of different artists’ work?
Background Pony #1B7C
the “stop liking the things I don’t like!” attitude is bad.

No, it’s the “stop criticizing any content from the fandom!” attitude that’s really bad. If I have a criticism of someone’s work, I’m going to voice it - especially if everyone else is fawning over said work.

@Background Pony #B113
if you don’t like don’t look at it.

Again, that’s BS. You’re basically saying that people shouldn’t criticize art or voice their opinions. We should be able to voice negative opinions of something as well as positive ones; otherwise it’s unjust.
