@VladimirMacHolzraum
Ponies, in this context, are soo different from horses it’s not really fair to call them a subset. That’d be like calling humans a subset of chimps. Vaguely related, sure, but they’re only really similar if you place a (mlp) pony and a horse side by side and hold wax paper over your eyes, even then they’re still different enough you could probably tell the difference. That’s not even considering their minds, comparing humans to chimps would be closer in terms of mental similarities than (mlp) ponies to horses.
the joke, or AJ and Twi’s expressions immediately afterward
So someone else over thinks in one comments section, I over think in this one… xD
That’s more like over thinking it…

@Techy Pony
Ponies are a subset of horses.
Because those who introduced those words were liked illogic.
Hey is not like we don’t do crap like this.
Why do we drive on parkways and park in driveways?
@Grieffon
Yeah, I hear it now.
Dang it all. I must be going deaf.
I miss the days when people don’t complain about stuff without even understanding why it’s bad.
I’ll probably do that in the future.
If you’re not sure what they say, just check the transcripts.
It doesn’t. The joke is entirely dropped, typically translated as something like “ponies sketching horse-drawn carriages”.
How does this joke work (if it works at all?) in other languages? I’ve never watched any dubs so I don’t know.
Applejack: “Jus’ go with it.”
