Her Wonderbolt obsession could stand as it is without explanation– on account of “duh”– but I really want to see more backstory on why the Mane Six are effed up the way they are, and Mom and/or Dad being Wonderbolts would explain so much about Dash’s particular insecurities and obnoxiousnesses.

those locations are all primarily unicorn/earth pony based so it wouldn’t make sense to have cloud houses there,and if there were they would not be visible from the center of town.Just like RD’s house isn’t visible from ponyvile and as for all of her stuff,not only do all the mane six have similarly expensive looking stuff,statues could be hand me downs or just stuff she’s won in various competitions(which i imagine would make up the majority of her possessions) where as the pillars and waterfall are just by products of the house being made of clouds(assuming clouds can generate rainbows like that.)
 
and if she did need to buy half that stuff she probably did so with prize money from various competions(which would explain how her house has been getting progressively larger.)

If clouds are so cheap and mallable, why don’t you see more floating houses outside of Cloudsdale? They weren’t in Manahatten, Appleoosa, or Canterlot. Rainbow’s is the only one we’ve seen outside of Cloudsdale.
 
Also, she has statues, pillars, and her own rainbow waterfall. Guessing that stuff isn’t cheap, and neither is all the Wonderbolt’s merch she probably has.

Clouds are cheap and maliable,it’s like sand that floats so she’s basically in a giant sand castle. and cloud is probably not very hard for a weather pony to get her hooves on.They probably pay weather workers with it to build bigger homes with as part pegasus culture of rewarding hard work and alpha pony dominance…or RD just swipes it from work when no one’s looking.

Well it was hinted in the cards, although that was barely canon. But this?
 
I still don’t think she was wealthy, she strikes me as someone who has been independent of any special treatment for a very, very long time. But the idea that she looks up to the memories of her father as part of her motivation completely fits with her personality. Also, if he was a retired veteran, she could of gotten in the wonderbolts far easier and it would of been mentioned far earlier….Daaaaamn.
 
This was a rather sudden easter egg. No other pony we’ve seen has that coat, and his red mane strikes out just like RD’s.

Am I the only one who noticed the Rainbow blaze Wonderbolt Poster? Do you know what this means for RD’s character? that the reason she want’s to become a wonderbolt is to be like her Father/Mentor? this is epic!
 
I personally like the Idea of RD coming from a poor family,So as to give her some humble pie and not have her as a complete Diamond Tiara style spoiled brat.

Eh.. I like the rich parent approach though. And I saw what looks like a family crest on the wall. I’m thinking perhaps a father in the military? And I’ve always got the single father parent feeling from dash, being the tomboy that she is.

Judging by past episodes, I’m guessing there are crap ton of skills Rainbow Dash has picked up during her life that she does NOT talk about cause she feels they are too boring and nerdy, but she’s actually amazing at.

I think that by trying to make Twilight feel more at home in the castle, they inadvertently made it so THEY’d be the ones who felt most at home and not Twilight.
