really shitty. that’s why it’s awesome that it wasn’t magically swept under the rug/ status quo is God afterwards.
Still, it’s a shitty thing to do. To say the least.
it’s more of pearl really, really, really wants it more (to the point of distracting them from their priorities) and with garnet being the only alpha around, she focused her need to satisfy her needs on her (who knows what would’ve happened if jasper was around).
It may not have been malicious, per se, but tricking Garnet into fusing with her over and over was pretty bad, especially given the subtext that fusion carries. Just because she’s walking around fused all the time doesn’t mean she’s asking for it.
Yep, and even that is pretty understandable. I mean, Rose was Pearl’s world and had been so for thousands of years. I’d react poorly too if I was in her position and felt a bond that meant everything to me was being threatened.
so far the only truly malicious thing pearl ever done on-screen was her poor treatment of greg in the past.
None of those things are exactly her fault though. Most of that is just her personality, no more ‘wrong’ than any other, but that caused her to suffer so much.
And it’s touching exactly because of that: Pearl didn’t exactly deserve all the pain and struggle she’s been through, and she isn’t an evil person who wishes harm on others.
it’s one of those friendship things where you can talk smack and rib each other mercilessly and still be in good terms.
namor and dr. doom betray each other whenever they team up and they consider each other as best buds.
in garnet’s defense, pearl can’t help but provide for plenty of ammo for ‘you suck’
But as much as that’s true, part of the premise of her show is that she doesn’t need to, that even among the Homeworld’s exiles, Friendship Is Magic.

Well, they wrote her as someone who feels too strongly, thinks too much, depends wholly on others and she can’t let go. Those things combined means that she is her own worst enemy.
