It’s not all that matters, but it’s taken into account, as it should be.
I honestly don’t think this merits the “gay” tag. Intention isn’t the only thing that matters imo, otherwise people claim all sorts of things in the works. Take JK Rowling for example. There’s not really anything gay or explicitly romantic going on in this image, so I don’t think it really counts as a romance-related image. It’s just a pegasus taking an earth pony for a ride. I agree with @100SGX, it looks like it could just be friends.

Except intention is what matters, and the artist’s intention is clear.
I don’t see the problem here. I think this image doesn’t need to have the gay tag since the context can be taken as a friend helping other to fly.

Yeah, I agree. Although this has happened before. First time I saw this happening I also commented But the mods just got angry and stuff or whatever.
I believe it was a largely result of “pies”, Soarin’s love of pie from Best Night Ever and the pie fight in Over a Barrel. It was basically back when male characters were few and far between, yeah. But also their optimistic personalities just work really well together.
