Pet Thread

So, this is the new kitten we found a few weeks ago.  
 
No one has agreed on a name yet, but I call him Apache (my dad came up with it) since it’s the one he actually shows some sort of response to since we found him. My grandma found him in our front step and saw that he was being overheated. We initially took him to for some food and water before the kids went looking for the owner. They found them, but they didn’t want the cat. I thought it was just animal abuse until I found out that the mother wanted to keep the cat for her family, but no one there knew how to or had the money to properly take care of it. He was barely awake the first night we officially took him in, but in the following days he proved to be a very energetic fellow. He’s pretty anxious and agressive, but if you just stay calm with him and be gentle he’s a real sweetheart. He’s very playful and loves attacking anything really (we’ve been training him not to always do it though since he already chewed through one of my headphones). My other cats - Chelsea, Hope, and Buddy vary a lot with him. Chesley just avoids him and hisses at him (as she does with the others). Hope is certainly the most patient one with him and was the first one to warm up to Apache. And Buddy a little less patienct, but doesn’t mind having the little guy hang with him.

My cat Busby should have been named Apache because he flails his arms and legs if you lift him, even if he won’t hurt you.
 
As Apache likes to play, I just thought I would say that Maisy loves to play with this toy specifically. She brings it up our stairs at about 2:00-3:00 in the morning and plays with it in my mother’s room while she’s sleeping.

Thanks. :) Recently though his eye has been leaking. It looks like one of the cays night have accidentally scratched him, but right now it seems to be healing up quite nicely. He’s fun to have around, but sometimes he just needs to chill.

A stray cat attacked my tabby and now he’s injured in the face near the left eye. Thankfully his eyes are unharmed

Good.

Ever since we got Rusty, he’d usually not pay attention to things like mirrors, the TV, or any sort of screen. For the past two weeks, he’s suddenly got interest in all those things. He’s scared of his own reflection sometimes but he really loves looking at stuff on TV (or on computer/tablet screens or even my DS). He gets really into whatever he’s watching too.

Oh no. Incidents like this is why I’m kinda against leaving dogs and cats outside unsupervised. I hope your kitty feels better.

Better than scratching at it. When Oreo was alive, he’d like scratching at the fans and ACs when they were off. I guess he figured we’d turn them on if he did that (which is correct since I caved in nearly every time).

He’s so precious. I’m also with Chrys on this one. Apache’s a really cool name.

I saw the cutest dog at Petsmart today. So precious, and she was 14! Looked just like a puppy.

My parents caught Henry stealing cat food. As in, he was caught with one of these containers in his mouth.
 
We have a chest-shaped freezer in our house, and we feed our cats on top of it. My mother opened a container of cat food to feed one of our cats. Henry reached onto the platform when we weren’t looking, carefully grabbed the entire opened container of food, and walked into another room with it.

Katie is a very skittish cat, but she can be sweet. Sometimes. She will purr and roll her head on you when she is in a good mood, but she hides and runs a lot, and she will bite and/or scratch you if you startle her.
 
She was neglected by my grandfather for a few years and almost lived her entire life in a hole that she clawed into a chair, in a mid-sized sunroom.
 
She is still not perfect, but she has come a long way from her previous lifestyle. When we first took her in, she would hide in a thin opening in the back of our sofa, eat and use a litterbox, and hide again. We don’t have a litterbox now, and she hides under furniture now, not in it.

I decided not to reply to your post a few days ago because I was late, but I wanted to mention that we have the same dog bed for Hershey that you do. Or at least it looks like the same bed.

Very smart. Cats are hyper carnivores while dogs are omnivores but have a preference for meat and because of that, cat food tends to have more meat compared to dog food. So it’s no surprise he went for that cat food.

Rusty’s eating his food way too fast. I’m thinking of maybe getting him a slow feeder bowl to perhaps help with that because he did get sick once from eating too fast.
