Any estimate on what species of ponies or any other creatures this fandom is consisted of?

Kind of like the opposite of the show. Since the show mostly takes place down on the ground level, Pegasi are somewhat of a minority especially in places such as Canterlot. Earth Ponies and Unicorns tend to live at close proximity with each other, so their lifestyle are quite similar.

Fans make alicorn OCs for the same reason why, if there’s hamburger and steak in front of you, you choose steak. I’ll let that one soak in.

Though if I had to guess which race is predominant in the fandom, I’d have to go with Unicorn. They seem to be everywhere.

I have Software Patch, a male earth pony, and Widcatcher, a female pegasus. My OCs are a steaming pile of self-deprecation and kind of a riff on “special snowflake” OCs, so I tried to make them super-ordinary.

I’ve got two, one Earth Pony male made purely because fetishes, and my main OC, a female pegasus.
 
I prefer pegasi, but I’ve always liked flying so… yeah.

Hm yeah, many in the fandom seem to have either Pegasi, Unicorns, Alicorns, or another species altogether as their OC. Some actually written decently and others… eh, not so much. XP  
Unfortunately, Earth Pones kinda get the shaft in the fandom and that’s sad.

I’ve actually had them for sometime now(several months) but I was a bit nervous about revealing them to other pony fans due to how much flak OCs tend to catch… Regardless of how they’re written. Yeah. ;>.>
 
I haven’t written them into any fics or roleplays yet but I’d like to someday.  
Hell, I’ll either need to commish some decent but affordable art or brush up on my own average-at-best art “skill”(if I had my PC working and had a scanner) so you can actually see what they look like. Without resorting to PonyMaker… :P
