Hazbin Hotel Thread [Possible NSFW/Dark]

The reason all the VAs are getting replaced is apparently that Hazbin Hotel was picked up by A24, which is associated with SAG, and the voice actors who were dropped are all non-union, so they’re insisting that they use union voice actors.

Yeah, even if we look past the fact that Bento Box is also the show behind Allen Gregory, none of the other shows they’ve made are known for glowing animation or anything.

Am I the only one that’s not too bothered by these recasts? Maybe these replacements could do fine on their roles

We don’t even know who the recasts are yet. My fear is that they’ll be replaced with celebrities.

FWIW, Morgan Berry, a fellow voice actor and friend of the ones who were removed, posted saying that removing them was entirely Vivzie’s decision and not a mandate from A24, although she has since deleted the tweets where she said that. Who knows if she’s just spreading drama, though.

I was actually thinking about that.

If I’m not mistaken, Jill Harris, Elsie Lovelock, Krystal LaPorte, and Michael Kovach all live in Texas, which is a right to work state. It means that they don’t have any connection to SAG-AFTRA, so they can’t do work for any production that has ties to the union. With Hazbin Hotel being done at A24, it likely means that they’re doing the voice work as a union production, where-as the Pilot was non-union.

Meanwhile, Edward Bosco and Mick Lauer are a part of SAG-AFTRA (albiet as Fi-Core members), meaning they’re likely to reprise their roles.

True. We don’t know whether or not Charlie and Vaggie’s VAs are returning, but it seems like they are.

I can see Monica returning, but Jill isn’t a SAG-AFTRA member as far as I know.

But then again, Michelle Marie is a member, and she’s getting replaced too.

Wait, for real? Geez… Now I suspect that either Vivzie or A24 is pulling a Guns N’ Roses and firing almost everyone else on the show.

Yup. As far as I know, she’s also appeared in union anime dubs. The one I’m thinking of off the top of my head is one of Sango’s daughters in Yashahime.

At the very least, I hope A24 doesn’t massacre my girl.

God forbid any of the characters get changed beyond their voice castings.

We still need to know more info before we jump to conclusions

Not sure I like the new design. It looks too… red. Like, the jacket was always red, but did the pants and eyes have to bed red too?

Also, her name was changed from Charlie Magne to Charlie Morningstar, which… she went from a pun on the King of the Franks to, what, a veggie burger brand?

My friend did that restores the original colors, and… yeah, it actually looks a lot better. The contrast in the black pants gives the eyes a place to rest from the constant red elsewhere.

The new hair and more angular design will also take some getting used to, but that’s the most jarring part.
