How and when did you become a Pony Fan/ Brony?

It’s even crazier than that: think about in 2012/13 going back eight years before then and being able to see what you said. For me that would be 2004/5, and I couldn’t, because I didn’t have any online presence beyond MSN messenger and email. I was also still in high school, which for me feels like a very long time ago now.
 
Hell, the venerable Ponibooru and associated S1 and S2 stuff feels like ancient history now, despite a lot of us being first or second wave fans.

I know this isn’t a contest, but I could give you some keywords to put in Google and it would show you stuff I posted on Gamedev.net and Flipcode.com and other programming forums back in 2001 - 2003. And going back even further, there are some (admittedly cringey, I was a teenager after all) Usenet posts I made in 1999, if you know where to look. They’re the oldest surviving signs of my existence that I know of. I believe some website guestbook messages/comments I left in 1996/1997 may exist somewhere (Geocities dumps?), but there’s no way to find them.
 
I remember thinking in August 2011 about how much awesome things the fandom had already produced and how the whole phenomenon was less than a year old, and wondering how long it would last. I now know it lasts at least a decade. And what a decade it has been.
 
Damn, I miss the show so badly. :-( It will soon be exactly 10 years since I sat down to watch the first episode.
