I’ve looked at my state and federal laws and couldn’t find anything explicitly saying you couldn’t.
 
I may be looking in the wrong places or their just isn’t a law forbidding it.

I have no idea what the laws regarding that would be, but if a parent with young kids in the car were to see and report your plates to the PD, you might be looking at some trouble. I’d recommend using a SFW Derpy.
