Honestly looking at all the AI stuff I’m also feeling a bit icky now. It’s kind of scary. Can’t we just like stop it now? Pull the plug? I mean we’re making it so we can break it too, right? I kind of want to just go back to “Haha, AI can make porn whenever you want”, “Haha, AI lets you talk to your favorite fictional characters”, or “Haha, AI lets your favorite character say fuck”.

This might be an odd comparison but…

AI is kind of like self check out. Before it took one casheir to one customer at a time. Now with AI its like one casheir to every hundred.

The reason it takes less is because AI speeds things up. Which will greatly increase the compitition for coder jobs.

I know that more workers run onto the stage in case shit gets that intense but I feel like there should always be at least two extra buff dudes partially inside the ring ready to aid the Ref in breaking up matches that go too far.

Now Im havinga hard time writing this post using my pinky fingers which is unaffected by the glue.

I want a job where I don’t have to worry that I won’t be able to put food on the table or pay the water bill etc.

Or in other words

If your looking into a carear merely for the pay rate you will never be happy. I persionally chose instrumen and equipment repair.

Even though its a difficult market even under mentorship… its worthwhile to me. Its something I enjoy doing. If all I was given was numbers and wave forms I would eventually hate my job.

Especially if I never got to meet the people I influence by repairing their gear. You see, life should not merely be about money. It should be about taking time to smell the roses. Otherwise you will miss all the greatest things in life.

It’s easier to enjoy friends, family, and community with a full belly and clean bill of health. Both of which require money.

Except. I never said you should not look into a carear that pays for how you live. In fact I said the oposite. If you enjoy programming then by all means go for a coders job.

Complaining about a low minimum wage and AI stealing jobs is a cheap way out. Even traditional artist like myself have to compete with digital artist who print designs onto equipment.

I can do only so much with a paint brush and an unfinished wooden cabinet. Example: tube head with a matching speaker cabinet.

Bottom line
Increasing minimum wage creates inflation. When complaining about cheaper AI then realize the entire picture. Merely blaming technological advances adds to the current problem. That being destruction of jobs.

Actually increasing minimum wage doesn’t really increase inflation as its normally an inflation-tied measure, or its supposed to be. Real wage growth is a contributing factor, sometimes needlessly, but that is more a factor of greedy corporations passing the costs onto the consumer. Most of the wage oriented inflation comes from jobs that pay well above minimum wage already, not really from the lowest earners, given that the products they tend to buy are already normally very cheap.

When VA increased ours a few years ago, the actual overall price increase was negligible and wages actually outstripped price gains.

But, this is not the thread for that kind of debate.

I am a janitor for my primary income. So tell me, why can’t my mentor train me? Or is he greedy too because he can’t pay me while repairing tube amps and piano key boards?

Him and his wife a piano tuner are actually strugalling financially. My place of employment can only give me so many hours. Janitorial is all they have at the moment.

The current managers of two departments are about to retire. Add that they are trying to fix co-worker issues. Its not about wage. Its about whether a company can reasonably afford the hours.

I seen it with my own eyes. All the things employers are trying get through is less than ideal right now. Yet, people cry over a pay check. Making it difficult for people like me with autism to increase hours.

It’s not the employees nor consumers’ fault that companies run with skeleton crews, cut hours, pass costs, and downsize.

I bet you the big wigs of your company are making bank, and if it’s publicly traded I bet they’ve got incentives and buybacks in the wings for investors.

And I am pulling out of this one. I am not far from being ticked off with you. Might as well while people still think of me in positive light.

3 years ago, some monster and his 2 shitty kids decided to break into a store in my town in the middle of the night and burnt it and several other shops next to it to Ash

Today the results from his trial came in and the court says there was “no public interest” in having any further legal actions taken against him, aside drom him staying in custody. The 2 dumbass kids didn’t even get a trial because they got let go on bail

Everyone in the community is pissed off at this. Several thousands of pounds worth of damages, people lost their businesses, and this stunt could have gotten someone hurt or even killed, and this dude just gets a slap on the wrist

Never get your hopes TOO HIGHLY, you should have some second alternatives in case it doesn’t if you really need the job. If not, you’re doing your best in the meantime.
