Vocaloidism

Since someone else made a topic comparing FiM with to something else, it got me to thinking about something I had contemplated before: the similarities between FiM and the Vocaloids.

…yeah, I should probably make clear that I’m mostly talking about their fandoms, not so much anything cannon; in fact, for the most part, the Vocaloids don’t really have much in the way of proper canon, and most of what they do have is adapted straight from widely accepted fanon. Similar to how the popularity of the Vocaloids mostly stems from it’s user-created content, bronies have highly characterized pretty much all the background ponies and have even had a little bit of an influence on the show itself. Heck, both fandoms even have a stint for character/story driven songs.

…seriously, am I the only one seeing this? How have I not seen fanart of the Vocaloids riding the ponies yet? Or a pony-related Vocaloid song?

Youtube; “vocaloid mlp” and instant results. Unless you meant a vocaloid singing about loving ponies.
Google images; ‘Vocaloid pony’ gives ponified vocaloids. Granted, you said art of them riding the ponies.

I see your excitement, which is fun, but research things a bit more before pushing the idea that there’s no art/music. I’m not trying to be mean, I’m just pointing this stuff out because I hope you’ll remember to do this in the future.

…I wasn’t saying there wasn’t any, I was saying I hadn’t seen any. Both of ‘em are viral as it is, it’s weird that I haven’t seen them cross over much.

…and for the record, I was specifically meaning a pony song done using one of the Vocaloids. The closest thing I’ve seen is a “ponified” music video or something like that. (Think a “Story of Evil” or “Rainbow Factory” type of song about FiM characters sung by a Vocaloid and you should get the picture, though they don’t hafta be dark like that.)

Well, there’s multiple versions of This Day Aria done with vocaloids. An english one and a spanish one. There’s the failure song, gumi singing Becoming Popular, and so forth. I know what you are getting at, frankly I’m glad they don’t intermingle so much. I like some crossover works here and there but there’s only so much I can take before I find myself wanting to put distance between me and the subjects.
