Even if the study was a conclusive example of sexism in video games, it wouldn’t mean much. I mean, what’s the way one would solve such a problem? Never have sexy women in video games? Would people really think that getting rid of the sexy women would make sexist men stop, instead of simply infesting other games? Evidence that sexism by gamers is a problem? We know it’s a problem already; the issue is how to solve it.
 
No, the likely use of such a study is to try and argue from authority to beat your opinion over the heads of others. We can’t draw generalisations of large groups of people with only one study. There’s no definitive link of cause and effect with only one study. People should be doing studies of this, but we’re not anywhere close to drawing any useful information yet; more has to be done.

Acknowledging that there is a cause and effect doesn’t mean something has to be eliminated with a hammer. Knowing it exists is often enough for there to be an improvement, even if just by understanding it. In a case like this, improved knowledge could lead to increased social tolerance of sexist insults after playing games with sexual content, rather than a censoring of sexual content. If I know someone is going to be sweating after a strong workout, I’m more likely to be tolerant of their body odor.

Apparently, a lot of the Visual Noval games (You know the ones) on steam have a patch you can download to make them as lewd as they were supposed to be.
 
Kotaku didn’t like that, but after some whinning eventually more adult themed games began gaining popularity.
 
Now; You have to go into your settings, I forgot which and you can unlock what’s known as the TRUE STEAM STORE with all the pron games unbound.

There are full on porn games with “AAA” 3D graphics and the like… they just don’t show up on popular storefront’s first page. Illusion is the most popular dev I guess, but far from the only one.

Most people don’t buy porn games. I mean, I like porn but there’s no way in hell will I buy one. I play games for enjoyment and jacking off is not that.
 
Porn games on Steam is a niche, not a mainstream thing. And by God, I hope it doesn’t become one. Because contrary to popular belief, space and time of a person’s life is limited so if porn games become mainstream, I will literally have a harder time looking for non-porn games.

I know how you feel, but you could say the same thing about any type of game that you don’t like. I don’t like Roguelikes or Castlevania-style Metroidvanias, and their existence makes it harder to find games I want to play, but I wouldn’t want to deny them to others. It would probably be better for Steam to make better use of tags so we can filter in and out games more easily.
 
Battle Royales can fuck right off, though.
