I don’t see GG2 happening. It was a thing because GGers tried to have an open dialog with gaming journalists and were continuously shut down. Even if you doubt the motives of the GGers, the fact that they tried to appear respectable is exactly what defined GG. I don’t see anyone attempting to try this again.
 
Besides, the wider culture war is, in many ways, a much larger version of GG. A GG2 would have to have some defining characteristic to separate it from the culture war, and there have been some significant world events that have failed to do so, so I don’t know what GG2 could even be.

Man, E3 was kinda disappointing. Take-Two went on to talk about toxicity in gaming culture and I’m like, “Please, I already get that from Twitter. Just show me the games.”.

I forgot E3 even existed untill it reared its ugly head this year.
 
Some good Nintendo stuff, though nothing that interested me personally. Microsoft opened strong with starfield and fizzled out hard after.
 
Oh Microsoft, you’re suppose to close with your strongest showing, not open with it. When they opened with starfield I thought we were gonna get an elder scrolls 6 trailer or gameplay reveal or something. What a letdown.

E3 is pretty much as dead as the VGAs at this point. Most of is were shills for the typical viewpoints, even Arin going on about how “Toxic” gaming is and everyone’s racist while anyone reminding him of his past sins were quickly banned.
 
There were some games that were interesting that were just made boring by Geoff Keighley and his celeb guest awkwardly trying to pretend they know what they’re doing. Nintendo was really the only thing that had anything worth while that I didn’t already know about.
 
Nothing on that Harry Potter game they made a big spectacle last year… Wonder if they silently canceled it to appease the mob, which never happens.

I might not like Nintendo and their crazy copyright stuff, but man there’s a reason why they’re the top dog in terms of video games.

It mostly has to do with their copyright laws. Something about if they just let people go unrestrained with the IP, they can lose it - unlike here where stuff like Superman to even Mikey Mouse where supposed to hit Public domain, but the companies in power abuse the system with loop-holes and retain their vice like grip on them.

Was perusing Jim Sterling’s Kiwifarms thread and came across this, where he didn’t actually give the OG Halo Wars a full review despite saying so. It’s also interesting to see that Mister Metokur (then probably still the Internet Aristocrat) criticising games journalism pre-GG.

Quite a few people did. Razorfist has a series on terrible gaming media sites, such like Destructiod, Jim’s first place he festered. It was only after the big Quinn scandal happened with a garbage twine game getting so much praise did people began question and then that which was so easily defeated but still the cause of everything bad to today(for them anyways) accrued in the year of 2014 which net lots of them money, and access into the larger part of gaming industry, that Seems to constantly have problems with abusing their power to sexual gain.

But that’s just a conspiracy by misogynists.

Jim Sterling has his flaws, but what he says about the gaming industry as a whole is pretty spot-on. I don’t think his missteps detract from his overall accuracy.

Good call, everypony, not only did they never shut up but they started the doxing and shyt over the exact same stupid shit, namely BOOBS AND LEWDS, SO OFFENSIVE! 😮 I figured that Sweet Baby thing wouldn’t pan out because it’s so limited in scope + “Selen Shock” diverted most gamers’ attention for two whole months… But these journos couldn’t help themselves and kept escalating in a void, until they suddenly busted out promising a total of $50,000 for whoever merks Mark 😂 all because dude was like “Maybe don’t censor the hot anime babe scanned from a real freaking person for being an ’unrealistic ’ representation of womynkind” and yes shitaku is at the centre of it once again


Amazing how this all resulted from one crappy Steam curation list and one game getting moderately “Sonytised”🤦
And all this just in time for the next Meme President Run! Woohoo! Everything old is new again!

Yes, we are most likely well aware. Anytime someone mentions disliking the Stunning and Brave games are labled in 2014 dialect. Here’s the irony, a lot of the old GG types also turned out to be the same. Some becoming as easily programmed and using the Newly installed “Coomer” insult . slur. other’s just claiming “It’s over” after Sweet Baby inc. was ousted putting their crybaby stink on many modern games for the “Modern audience”

There are multiple “consultant” groups, many with history of scandal [GaymerX] and others that harass anyone they don’t like [Black Girl Gamers. Name picked as a shield].

Yet, Japanese games are censored with nary a reason, while those trying to deflect say “Go watch porn” as they have never gotten past chapter 1 of Baldur’s gate 3, since they don’t have to for theirs.

As we ALL knew since 2014; They were always what they called their enemies. [insert multiple times of someone screaming le peedoo over fictional characters, only for them to either be enjoying the same art - or actually being one; See the UN.]

I hate so much the ‘just watch porn’ attack, it’s baffling and a little sad that people isolate any element of sexuality(ironically) or beauty to porn, acting like it’s the only reason anyone would look appealing.

Anyway I have a weird theory that the gamer side didn’t “strike first” because of how popular vtubing blew up. It was a great big distraction, bread & circuses and all that. Then one of the big boys fucked up and most of their game streamers graduated at one time. Now they were paying attention and making lists and that triggered the SJs someone would once again turn their own tricks upon them. Triggered enough they would just immediately escalate to where they left off last time. So you can technically all blame the revival on that dickhead
I don’t think it would have happened with Holo in the same circumstances because they are so much more idol focused. But because of Selen’s circle of friends/ game industry contacts the news immediately “breached containment” and the conflagration needed just one more spark
And wouldn’t you know it, another localisation drama erupted! Just like Torrential Downpour back in early 2014. Fuck’em, let’s ball!
