Moving to another state, let alone another country, takes time and resources many people just don’t have. About half of Americans make $30,000 a year or less. Even if you do have a job that has a larger salary, you might not want to leave if you get good health insurance through your employer or you’ve alread bought a house. Telling conservatives to move to Somalia because America is “the most taxed nation in the world” (it absolutely isn’t) would be just as absurd.
 
You’ve already voted with your feet every second you’re in one, regardless of anything you say. But don’t mind me, continue whining about how lousy capitalism is on your iphone/computer.

Some republicans are flat out abandoning democracy
 
These power-grabs should scare people. The moment that the ruling party can strip the powers of the incoming party is the moment that democracy no longer matters.
 
This should scare Republican voters as much as Democrat voters, this is antithetical to the very concept of democracy, of a republic.
 
Republicans in Wisconsin lost all the major state-wide elections, and lost the popular vote in the House and Senate by 54% to 46%, but maintained their majorities through Gerrymandering. Not content with defying democracy through the maps, they’re now subverting the will of the people by striping their dully elected officials of power the governors have had for the past 7 terms.
 
Where are the “defenders of democracy” that supposedly populate this thread now huh? Is this ok simply because it is a conservative doing it? Going to turn a blind eye to a legitimate abuse of power?

And they pulled out the usual “both sides” card when they talked about the Charlottesville riots.
 
Say, anyone remember the time when people could mock and make fun of Nazi’s and not have to worry about them ever getting into positions of power again?

hollywood interests such as disney and 20th century fox and tech giants such as oracle, facebook, and amazon–of which facebook and amazon originally opposed fosta-sesta through the internet association but then changed their minds once the time for voting on the bills was close at hoof–are aiming to benefit from this, if their support for fosta-sesta was any indication.

Pimps Are Preying on Sex Workers Pushed Off the Web Because of FOSTA-SESTA
 
The last time Katie tried to leave her pimp, he beat her with a tire iron.
In March, Congress passed the Fight Sex Trafficking Online Act (FOSTA), a controversial mashup bill packaged with the Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act (SESTA) that was framed by proponents as being anti-sex trafficking. It punishes websites for discussions of prostitution and the sex trade, under the guise of anti-sex trafficking efforts.
But because of this new law, exploitative and abusive people like Katie’s former pimp are swooping back into sex workers’ lives. They’re capitalizing on the confusion and fear this law has created, as online communities where sex workers found and vetted clients and offered each other support are disappearing.
