Yeah, Europe do remember telling the US that waging war on Irak was going to be a shit show that will destabilized the Middle East and just bring more potential terrorist to rush to Europe. One country especially, who own a lot to USA was very vocal about its concern and all it get was a hissy fit and a petty tantrum about how to call potato chips at the Congress cafeteria

In the latest “The mask continues to slip” news, a Missouri GOP lawmaker is throwing a fit over the statue of Robert Lee getting taken down, saying that if it goes down then do should the Lincoln Memorial.
 
Wow boy. We’ve finally hit the point where a Republican is attacking Lincoln in defense of the Confederacy. But do tell me how wrong I am when I say the GOP aren’t American or that they support America’s enemies.

They’re there. You probably just won’t find them under “jester” typically. But funny smart men have played a similar role in any court anywhere the world over. It’s just that you may have to dig around for a bit because the mainstream academia doesn’t really care, or you have to have or had a particular interest in the subject before hand to just sorta stumble on them.

The Republicans just happen to line up with a certain not-college educated crowd of downwardly mobile middle class, rural middle class, old industry, and cast-off lumpen maybe. The closest comparison might be to Francoists, but the only Anglos truly at the Franco level are the landlords of the tory party.

Germanic culture is a hybrid of the Celtic migrations and nordic culture. Most of Germany’s history was heavily influenced by the Norse.

Also no major victories for the GOP in 2021.

Lee was against statues reminding people of the Civil War in general (therefore implying that statues of himself was useless) , in his opinion it was a needless celebration and reminder of a dark hour in American history. They can’t even follow the wish of their own idol

Lee didn’t even believe in the cause defended by the Confederacy (prior to the start of the Civil War, he was hostile to secession and favorable to the end of slavery): the only reason he resigned from the US Army and fought for the CSA instead was because his state of Virginia had decided to join them and Lee’s brand of patriotism put state over country.

…..You know, it would make complete sense that those who are/were demanding that all Robert E. Lee statues be torn down would’ve at least taken that into consideration, but apparently (and not surprisingly), they haven’t, even in spite of the fact that they have always purported themselves to be the literal Albert Einsteins of today, at least regarding present-day social issues (and/or “issues”).

Regardless, Lee still chose to side with those who supported the Lost Cause and didn’t want to be considered a hero for that (also, while his views didn’t really differ from other people of his era, he still opposed equality for black people and viewed slavery as less of an evil for them than for the whites who perpetuated it).

Because they were LARPers who had a hard on for the early romanticist movement. And reaffirming the romanticist values of German Nationalism was seen as a way to replace the liberal values of the previous Weimar Republic period, and a way to outcompete with the Communist Party, which earlier had failed to do a revolution.
