Add option to make tagless the default download option?

It’s very difficult and time consuming to download tagless images on mobile. I only want to download the images tagless.
I have to hold down the button for a second or so, close the thing that pops up that takes up most of the screen, then click tagless for every image I want to download. It’s not that convenient on desktop either.

I second this. Having extreme difficulty hitting the tagless button on mobile when it was fine the other day.

^This. I can’t even remember the last time I downloaded an image with tags.

Not sure if this should be an account setting or a device-specific setting, but yeah, with the new buttons it needs to be a setting (I always liked the DS/VS buttons, dunno why they had to go)

Of course they swapped it, a bunch of us were begging them to do so in the site development thread. The inverse is a pita for those of us who never use tagless. It still seems up in the air when and whether the drop-down will be split again.

Folder too deep from root to actually save tagged image (no, really, Derpi tried to enlarge long filename and hit this issue where Windows’ ~complete backwards compatibility~ prevents paths longer than 255 symbols).

Also sharing is easier without tags (shorter links) while downloading is better with them so applying short/long to both buttons at same time is a bad option. If y’all really want to leave only 2 buttons, drop “download” entirely because right-click-save as accomplishes nearly same thing while wasting only one click at the minimum (two if you don’t have saving confirmations).

I personally don’t even care about the buttons since i just right click/long tap on pics to save, so whatever.

Even with like 8 folders of folders, I still don’t almost ever hit the cap.

That requires more clicks (click to switch it from useless large.png to actual image file, and only then right-click) though unless you have good enough connection to not use the scale images option.

I don’t use the download buttons very much, but I frequently made use of the VS button so I could directly link Derpibooru images to people without stupidly long URLs.

Actually, under Windows, it is possible to use UNC paths and expand the limitation to 32767 characters, give or take some. Unfortunately, few programs can work with UNC paths because it’s quite obscure and compatibility-breaking feature.

I’ve used Windows 10 Pro’s group policy tweak for longer paths and the only program that has had problems was a 32 bit media player… because it’s 32 bit. I’ve used many many programs and I’ve never noticed a problem with them. If you have Windows 10 Home you can tweak the registry or forcefully install the group policy editor.

All the media player did was not accept the songs with long paths.

Yeah, I use the show full res option, lol. Uhh, even still without it, I like it more since, while it’d be more clicks, it’s much less searching and aiming for the tiny button.

I used to save with tags, but quit partly because I have to truncate them since Windows limits filename size, making it impossible to keep them all unless the image has a short list of tags, and partly because it’s easier to verify if I already have an image saved.

I keep the tags just so I can actually find and sort shit on my comp. I don’t get how you’d reasonably manage shit otherwise.Even with just the folder pathing taking up half the available space, I still almost never run into that problem.

I still don’t get why you’d download an image without tags.

It makes file names extremely long and unwieldy.
Not everyone cares about the tags once they’re on their local computer.
The tags in the filename don’t particularly do anything, and they get cut off after a certain length anyway. So they’re not even particularly useful if, say, you’ve got a script on your computer to sort them by tags in the filename somehow.

So I just download the tagless name and throw them into folders based on my sorting criteria. I may eventually use a program to collect them all and tag them myself, but even then the filename won’t be helpful there.

I have everything fairly sorted.

The tags are just way too useful for searching for me to not have them lol. Plus, I hate having what amounts to a random string of characters as a file name. Since i shudder from having to go through so many “01(3).png”
pics when I sorted things out.

Don’t even get me started on e621’s fucking like hashes for filenames.
