Feature suggestions and discussion [READ THE FIRST POST]

As has been stated several times, the site at the moment is feature locked.
 
Philomena is being built as we speak to replace it, and only when the fiery phoenix flies will staff be looking to add features.

I imagine that Booru on Rails is still going to be developed long after we switch to Philomena, but at some point the two platforms will split and go down different roads
 
Right now, BoR is just feature locked so Philomena can get on parity with it so that Derpibooru can switch over.

I’d like to see a hotkey that takes you to the artist tag. Obviously the A key isn’t being used for anything so uhh… yeah. Please consider uwu
 
(I don’t know what you would do about posts with multiple artist tags but yeah)

I’d still like the ability to turn hotkeys the string of expletives off.

this might be a common question/comment but how hard would it be to make a mobile app?
 
an app would be something that other sites, such as rule34 and furaffinity dont currently have and making one would put you guys ahead of them.

Not hard, I don’t think, but not viable given what happened with Tumblr last year and some of the content on this site.

There used to be an unofficial Derpibooru app for Android a few years ago, but it’s long since discontinued and I doubt it would work with the site anymore these days.
 
It’s not something we’re actively looking at doing either. It would take a lot of development time and resources, both of which are pretty limited. Plus it’s very likely we wouldn’t be approved for the iOS App Store because of our content policies.
 
And while I can’t speak for the other devs, I’m personally not a fan of “apps that could’ve been a website”. Our mobile site works well and is responsive, and has access to all site functionality. Other then natively rendering the layout, which may shave a very tiny portion of load time, I don’t see much advantage to offering an app instead.

Lately I see too much cartoon and video game crossover “art” in the site. This is a pony site I think and posts like this are far from quality stuff mostly, not to mention the image of the site. You should maybe refresh the uploading policy or I should just give the crossover tag to hide them?
 
I understand if we are highly conforming and such but I don’t think its “very useful” for the final profil in the end. Things like this just spreads and gets more confusing day by day.

So your problem is the fandom is declining with the switch to a TTG cash-in and only people like Seb or Cartuneslover are left?

There is a crossover tag. 50000 plus uses of it too.

I don’t mean the pony life, its part of the pony like it or not, I mean for example cars, sonic, mario, pokemon and such “crossovers”, which are just pasted together png images.

I wrote “thank you”. Don’t turn everything into forum fight pls right after acting like a mod from nowhere. Just “have to” edit the global default (i use the dark +18) tags which does not requires extra features and coding. While if I create a tag, that’s just me and others see the stuff when come here; and i have to refresh every single spoiler tag.
 
note: Is there a spoiler tag auto update feature? like some checkbox or something.

Not starting a fight, nor am i acting like a mod. Im here to be helpful. Ive been here 5 or 6 years now and i figured you might could use helpful input. Evidently you dont want it and as such ill be on my way.

Filter the “crossover” tag, as well as any other relevant tags. If an image is related to ponies and otherwise complies with our site rules, it’s welcome here, regardless of quality or lack thereof.
 
Also, Jinx was helping and his answer is pretty much on par with what most mods would’ve said. No need to get grumpy at him.

Tumblr did indeed change their policies. They did so by banning porn and other adult content, which not only cost them a large portion of their userbase, but they alienated and cast aside several massive communities. Plus they wiped out a sizable chunk of eight years worth of history for this fandom, some of which may be permanently lost.
 
We’re not going to ban porn and delete nearly 400,000 images just so that people can use an app instead of the mobile version of the site. Sorry, not happening.

Her, lol. Thank you for clarifying what i mentioned.

I was “grumpy” when she called me an asshole just because I mentioned that I don’t need an answer that I already wrote down. I knew i can add a tag, it was there as an option. It was not an obvious thing that a random user can answer without at least considering it. But make her a site assistant and every respect is for the answers…
 
But I’m here for the second question:
 
I need a feature that automatically follows the spoiler tags since i don’t know what’s new and such, so it “ruins the things” before i can add them. So i could do my own spoilers+dark18 filter.

You were grumpy before that point, and I feel Jinx answered it pretty correctly. This is a community after all, members are allowed to give their input and help one another out.
 
Such a feature doesn’t exist, and I don’t think there’s any demand to add such, especially since the show (and thus the mainline content) has concluded.

Hmm. so what’s in plan for the site’s future if may I ask? I mean it will be locked or something or just keeps running with the new pony and the g4 arts?
