Suggestions for the 3 day top scoring.

Eh, if drawing porn is the only way (it seems like the only way almost) to get the top scoring, then that’s pretty sad… Porn > Quality… What is popular > Quality.

We aren’t some pretentious art gallery, we’re an imageboard. Whenever we want to highlight something that we think is “quality”, we feature it. Otherwise the power is on the community.

Well you could feature more than one image at a time.  
I think I mentioned a derpy booru classic at one point. I know that there are really amazing pieces of art which were posted in the first few months that just have a score about 30. Even Moes art is pretty underrated on the site.
 
This has for example just a score of 25

Pretty much everything before image 200000 is heavily underscored, and especially everything under image 40k.
 
I really don’t like the idea of messing with more featured image things because we’re really strapped for development time, and there are a lot of things we really need.

Yeah, I can understand that there are more important things you have on the agenda. Just this suggestion is more an expansion of an already implemented feature anyway.

I also think this might be worth mentioning.
 
This isn’t a community of artists, and thus we’re going to have a poor eye for quality because most of us do not know what to look for. (Don’t get me started on how the shading on the ‘derpibooru classic’ image we shared is shaded and colored wrong)
 
Here’s some porn that we may or may not agree is ‘quality’, but only with a score of 59 at the time of writing.
 

 
Might be an old image, but here’s a slightly older image with a score of 473. Sure, it’s a relatively well-done ‘anime’ style, but a lot of serious artists I’ve met will generally knock off anime art for being about mass appeal and not ‘quality.

Even for porn, you still have to understand the derpibooru community to know exactly what hits their soft spots. It’s all about how interesting a picture is. Most realist pony artists prioritize fine rendering over how interesting the picture itself is. Porn has an easier time with this since it’s usually not just a picture for the sake of a picture, but a larger idea behind the picture.
 
And a recent picture that is both SFW and scores pretty well.

That’s nice and all. Users on Derpibooru usually just go with their gut and vote on what looks generally nice to them, without in-depth analysing of lighting and other nuances of professional art. The 3 Day Top Scoring list isn’t supposed to showcase underestimated artists, or very realistic works, or give any kind of boost to non-explicit arts - we have the Featured box for that. The one and only way the 3Day’s influenced is by how many times users clicked Fave/Upvote on a given art, without consideration of any other element. We won’t tell users to fave less generic arts or abstain from faving porn just to have more variety in the 3Day. It’s nothing more than a basic number counter, and that’s its intended purpose.  
If you found an art that you think deserves more attention, a higher score or similar, then hop to the Featured suggestions thread(https://derpiboo.ru/art/featured-image/9) and post it there.

Oh, and do not blindly disagree with how people vote on images here. I can guarantee that there will be a lot of things to learn about what makes art to be considered quality. This is especially important if you’re an artist with a demographic you want to appeal to, which is probably always.
