Funny, I was just thinking that it would be interesting if the villain started out as some shadowy, genius, chess-master type who actually wins against Twilight and friends on several occasions and is revealed to have all sorts of seemingly unrelated plans in motion… and then have it turn out to be some alternate universe version of Twilight Sparkle driven mad by the events of the other world she came from.
