Naw, that gets a pass. Rarity, who does not lead an athletic lifestyle, was helping the rest of the Mane 6 take on an army of them, and Octavia has an excuse, since she has to carry a heavy cello around and probably took side classes in self-defense.

Anyone else feel that there’s actually a small but vocal group that wants everything new the show tries to fail miserably just so they can rub it in other people’s faces? Not out of trolling or anything but an actual desire to prove that they were “right?”
I saw this a lot with MMC, but I really genuinely don’t think it was as bad as some make it out to be, but still.

I didn’t like Spike at Your Service that much, I guess. Or the way they give Williams most of Spike’s episodes.
I’m sorry, but I just haven’t seen anything in this show that I couldn’t handle or get used to. Maybe it’s because I just take it as any other form of entertainment. I see people get so genuinely upset over what is essentially just a good TV show and most of the time just shrug.
Especially since it’s something that you can’t change. I roll with what the show gives and enjoy it most of the time. Sure it’s a good show, but a mediocre episode isn’t going to make me say anything more than “oh boy that writer sure didn’t know what they were doing, huh” and even then there’s usually SOMETHING within the episode that I find interesting.

And that’s really sad. Honestly, I’m not even sure you could have any sort of deep episode with Spike because of the nature of the show. I’m surprised he is how he is to begin with, some sort of mess of psychological disorders.

I’m pretty much the same way. I do think the show has botched a few things in terms of writing or how certain things were handled (MMC should’ve been a two-parter, dammit), but on the whole it’s just not something worth getting riled up over. I mean, at first when I heard that they were actually going through with alicorn Twilight, my first thought was “What the hell, writers?” Then I thought about it a bit an realized that while a change in status quo would definitely change how the show works, it could just as easily be a positive or lateral change as a bad one.
And even if I did have an episode that I hated (which I don’t; I think the worst that the show’s done is merely mediocre), I’d just go “Okay, I’m going to watch the other 60+ episodes that I actually enjoy”. Not worth getting worked up over.

Yes, unfortunately I get that feeling too, especially from people whom should know better (Looking at you CR from TGWTG).
As I’ve said before, A majority of the show’s problems can be choked up to the restrictions of its medium; an example being that it has to be 22 minutes long, thus things will be cut, rushed, or added to pad it to that length.

If it sounds like I’m hating on Rarity, you are incredibly mistaken. Rarity is obviously well-rounded enough to have studied enough martial arts to achieve self-defense. The comparison was there to establish the scale of Octavia’s fight in the context of why it was not OP. As is, I am quite content seeing Rarity doing whatever martial arts she practices. Rarity has at least the style and precision of a good fighter.

-If King Sombra was a mare there’d be less complaining about him. You know I’m right.

-McCarthy’s words on Sombra were a saving throw after the backlash against Sombra.

I hate how everyone calls even the tiniest in-joke or shoutout “pandering”. Double Rainboom was pandering. A shot of Big-Mac pulling a cart of mares is not.
I also hate how they treat it like it’s the worst thing to ever happen to them whenever it shows up.
