How do you do a British accent?

I can’ write any Pipsqueak shortfics because I don’t know how to do one.

I can give you some tips. Firstly, watch a lot of Monty Python, and read some other fics with Pipsqueak in it. I don’t usually self-promote, but I advise reading The Best of Both Worlds, if only for the ending.
 
Those should give you a general sense of what Pip should sound like. But for specifics, try to write normally, and explain at first that he has a Trottingham accent so the audience gets reading in said accent. Also, limit your usage of British insults like “bloody” or “sod,” but still make them noticeable enough.

I’m not sure I can rely on absurd comedy - you never know when they are just playfully exaggerating Britishness in a way that’d actually sound excessive (worse, offensive) in real life. :D
 
I’ll check the fic you mentioned, but I’m still curious, suppose you wanted to show a character is British in yoru writing, what kind of sentence would you put in their mouth to quickly & respectfully achieve that?

True. Gotta warn you, The Best of Both Worlds is ultimately a clopfic, but doesn’t involve it until about 3/4 of the way through.
 
Try writing out some sentences or sayings and change them to match with the dialect.  
Examples:  
“Go away” = “Sod off”  
“Bathroom” = “Loo”  
“Stupid idiot” = “Barmy git”  
“Friend” = “Mate”  
“My name is Pipsqueak” = “M’ name’s Pipsqueak”  
“Goodbye” = “G’bye”  
“That hurts” = “That smarts”  
“Rubbish” = “Tripe”

I don’t know the terms for them, but there are… 5 or six diff types.
 
Pips’s accent is a lighter one, kind of like how they talk in the Harry Potter books.

Watch Ashens on YouTube. It helped me a ton.

I would say to read a few fics that have him in it and get a feel for the accent.

For the record, accents are really hard to do. I’m Australian and have no idea how to do an Aussie accent. I’m pretty sure people don’t know what accent Babs has.

Pip has a southern English accent. It’s found in places like Brighton, Southmapton, Portsmouth, Bristol and Greater London.

I may not know how to do a British accent, but I can give you a tip on how to do an Australian accent:
 
Play Ty The Tasmanian Tiger. A lot. (In fact, play all three games if you have them.)
 
The series was made by an Australian game company, so the accents are nailed down to a T. ;P

Watch the episodes that feature him with a noteworthy speaking role (“Luna Eclipsed” is obviously one), and listen for the types of transformations his accent puts on words. Figure out how to type that.
