Just came back from seeing the Lego Movie 2. It was a lot of fun.

If there’s one complaint I have with Lego Movie 2 is that Batman got more screen time than both Benny and Metalbeard, to the point where they’re pretty much background characters.

This might have been brought up earlier because I haven’t been coming to this thread lately but I’m a bit down that Pan Pizza/RebelTaxi isn’t going to do a Top 10 Worst Animation News of 2018 video. He said that there was too much serious shit that happened during last year.

Man, fuck the guy who made that Apu documentary. I bet his actions will end up killing the Simpsons.
 
The only other controversies of 2018 I can remember is the Thundercats Roar drama and Butch Hartman’s failed attempt at making a streaming service.

John Lasseter resigning from Disney as the result of his history of sexual harassment against employees in the past is another.
 
As some one who once looked up to him that one was a gut punch. It really feels like sometimes you shouldn’t have any heroes because it doesn’t feel worth it.

He was always a pretty big Christian, but his views fit even bigger last year. Such as ignoring the rest of the contributions made to FOP by the shows cast and crew and instead saying it was the work of FOP, and that FOP should have had more Christain influences added to it.
 
There was also the time he had Tara Strong on one of his podcasts, and he “joked” that she was responsible for causing a voice actor she was friends with (Timmy Turner’ s voice actress from the pilot episide) to commit suicide, despite Tara being very uncomfortable about it.

I’ve heard that the new Carmen Sandiego show is really good, and I want to watch it, but I haven’t seen the original show. Should I watch it to know what’s going on in the new one, or is that not necessary?

Watching the original cartoon will probably only make the reboot less fun really,

It’s unnecessary, characters from the original are twisted around in the new one. The most notable of course, Carmen is an unambiguous heroine. In the original, she was a straight up bad guy.

Haven’t see the new one to compare but it may make Zack and Ivy’s reboot selves less enjoyable since they go from the main heroes and highly competent ones to bumbling sidekicks,

The new one is better, drama wise and all that. It’s kind of generic though, it’s basically Kim Possible.
 
The original is a 90’s edutainment cartoon that kind of feels like it was made by PBS (dunno if was). One concept was interesting though. The entire show was a sort of representation of a kid playing a video game and Carmen was like a sentient video game boss.

There WAS a game show version (several actually), but the cartoon itself was separate from that.
