Can we not go for the whole “DIS IZ BARELY LIEK MUZIK” kind of deal because it just sounds completely ignorant, like its fuckin obvious that the music itself is some sort of Slam/Brutal Death Metal. On the case for the music itself yeah it fucking sucks. Apparently these guys said that they feel that Death Metal should try to be the sickest and brutalest and nothing else. Yeah thats what fucking quality entertainment is about. Nah who cares about all of those other Death Metal bands who are actually doing things, lets just make an album with shitty sound modulated vocals, annoying loud snares, and the most dull compositions you can come up for with Death Metal because we wanna be br00tal.

Not really a fan of the last two albums but I felt that I just had to put them on there.

I went with The Jester Race because I tend to like more fantasy oriented things. (The cover art aside, musically The Jester Race is also my favorite IF release and one of my top 10 overall favorite albums)

I like that cover too, though the other AIC covers are also pretty sweet aswell. I think maybe my favorite cover of Alice In Chains would probably be the Jar Of Flies cover. (Musically though, Dirt is my favorite AIC album, cliche choice I know but it’‘s just so damn good.)

I think metal is big enough nowadays to be considered it’s own thing, though there certainly is still a lot of overlap.

no way, that would ruin my elitist standing

@Hypnosryan
you know the concept of the jar of flies thing came from a test where there were two jars containing either a scarce amount of food or a large amount of food which resulted with the well fed flies overpopulating and dying where the scarce food jar’s flies survived

always thought that was cool

I think the untitled is my fav tbh, but facelift was always a good one. the song put you down has one of the best opening drum/riff combos I’ve ever heard, although simple

So it looks like this year is going to be a great one for my musical tastes, Firewind, Grave Digger, Skyclad, Orden Ogan, and Iced Earth all have new albums.

18V are fuckin back and they ditched the Hard Rock and brought back the heaviness.

Im actually quite glad to see that theyre on Rise Records, great to see a label thats been sporting tons of generic modern Metalcore and Post-Hardcore branching out to the old generation. Like they re-released the first two Poison the Well albums as one and they re-released Fear Before the March of Flames debut album. Also a bit off-topic of Metal they just released the newest At the Drive-In record and they also a couple years back brought on Dance Gavin Dance who mix stuff like Hot Cross and The Fall of Troy with modern influences and even some atmospheric Post-Hardcore bands way back who all split up after like one album with them.

Hoping that Rise will continue this trend and sign on more old school bands that are starting to reform or at least modern bands that sound older, really seems as if the late 2010s is trying to bring back 2001-2004. Which is good because Metalcore really needs to bring back its rep and now the modern age gets to hear what influenced their favorite bands.

I mean, I got into LP around Minutes to Midnight and A Thousand Suns, and even I can say that this was awful. I’m not even sure if I can call it a Linkin Park album, since half the band doesn’t even sound like they’re on it.

I’m listening to the new Linkin Park album right now. All I can is why the fuck am I listening to this garbage? Hybrid Theory was at least tolerable. This doesn’t even sound like Linkin Park, this sounds more like a generic boy band. Hopefully no one else in my house can hear me listening to this shit.
