Christ, whats with all the delays?!

Does anyone actually know just what happened that led to Sonic ‘06 turning out how it did? The only information I can find is that when Yuji Naka and several other senior development staff left Sonic Team during its development, the folks who were still there weren’t sure what to do without him and ended up basically having to revert to an earlier build of the game in order to get it out on time. But I can’t find anything more specific than that (particularly just WHY Naka and the other staff members left).

I’m watching it now and I’ll jot down what I’m getting from it as I do.
 
Deadline problems (in the game industry, if you can believe it!), notably that the release had to coincide with Sonic’s 15th anniversary. Cuts had to be made. A big part of the initial 06 staff went over to what would become Sonic and the Secret Rings because the wii couldn’t even handle all that 06-y action! Really, it couldn’t, they had to make a whole new game because they promised one to Nintendo and the wii couldn’t run 06. Shun Nakamura wasn’t used to directing games the size of 06, and he only had a relatively small team to work with. Cuts. Matt says the reason Naka left was because Sega stuck him in an uncreative managerial job and he was like “(bollocks to that mess!)*” and left to do his own thing. A deal was made so Sega would promote the game as mainly a 360 title in the west and used a polished-up version of the 360 demo for a game expo. But the final game was based off the PS3 version, which didn’t have those improvements. Nor did it get them. Nakamura said the next-gen hardware was hard to work with.

And yet Sega keeps releasing the original Genesis Sonic 1 over and over (among other things).

While we’re on the subject, you guys were talking about the lack of re-releases of Sonic 3 & Knuckles in recent years due to the complicated licensing rights to the music.
 
What makes all that even stranger is that Sonic 3 & Knuckles is still on Steam and was never removed.

Y’know, that is on WiiU Eshop actually. If anything ALOT of old games are on modern consoles actually.  
In fact. the Sonic Advance triogy is on the WiiU Eshop too, but oddly only in Japan.
 
In fact, Sonic 1 & 2 are on every current console now actually, (via the Sega Genesis Collection game, Switch & 3DS Eshop, AND the upcoming Sega Genesis Mini system) so actually it is a li’l unusual that Sonic 3 and S&K aren’t on any newer systems sense the DS.

I’d just like to play the Adventure games, Heroes, Unleashed, Colors, Generations, and Lost World all on my Switch.

And of course the Sonic Advance trilogy and Sonic Battle can never be re-released outside of Japan ever again because THQ published those games in North America and then they went under and got bought out by Nordic.

That’s a bummer, I really wanna play those again. Sonic Advance 1 is actually one of my favorite Sonic games.

Would be nice if Sega would release a collection of those, or something.  
As much as I like Sonic 1, 2, Spinball, and 3D Blast, it’d be nice if they rereleased other Sonic games too.
 
Only other ones available are the GameGear ones for 3DS, (love Tails Adventure) and CD is available on Mobile/Google Play store.

SEGA is never gonna release anything before Colors because they hate the fans of those games, Both Classic and Adventure

I wouldn’t go that far, they still, occasionally do reference the Sonic Adventure & Heroes games, at least like with Lego Dimensions, the racing games, the Olympic games, and such.
 
The problem is all the critics, fanboys, and such convinced them, nobody likes those other 3D games, and made them a li’l ashamed of their 3D games. Though, not like their newer ones are all that different, nor better received.  
In fact, now “Rise of Lyric” is considered much worse then Sonic 2006, and the Shadow game. (I still enjoyed the Shadow game personally.)

Hell, if anything there’s been a little TOO much emphasis on the Classic games nowadays.
