Silver Spoon is basically the Milhouse van Houten to Diamond Tiara’s Bart Simpson, IMHO.

I think I may have overstated my position a little. I think that DT is the instigator in the majority of situations, is the crueler of the two, and is probably a bad influence on Silver Spoon.
 
DT tends to think of herself first (Flight to the Finish intro, Twilight Time, Pinkie Pride, Lost Mark, whereas with Spoon she sometimes has to assert the fact that they’re a team (Twilight Time). Family Appreciation Day is still a big influence on my opinion, where it was shown early on that she wasn’t a total bitch, unlike DT.
 
Pure speculation here, but I think that without DT’s negative influence, Silver Spoon would be just an average schoolkid.

The SS/DT issue of Friends Forever kind of delves into that facet of it too. It shows that Silver Spoon can be a generally nice and friendly kid, and at times even tries to discourage DT from spending so much time and effort on bullying, but at the same time she still ends up enabling her because they both were basically the only actual friend the other had by that point and she was afraid of losing that.

I’ve always figured Silver Spoon’s friendship with Diamond Tiara predates Diamond Tiara’s antagonism towards the Cutie Mark Crusaders. My thought on the whole “is Silver Spoon a follower or not?” issue is that it depends on the writer. In some episodes, she comes off as more of a follower (Twilight Time, Crusaders of the Lost Mark), while in others (Flight to the Finish) she doesn’t. At the very least, we can deduce that Silver Spoon genuinely cares for Diamond Tiara and wants to be friends with her and is not coerced or bullied into being friends with Diamond.

I agree. In fact, being in agreement seems like the basis for Silver Spoon’s friendship with Diamond Tiara (on the surface). She seems to be cool with Di’s actions as long as they coincide with her own beliefs or her own idea of what she thinks is funny. It was when Apple Bloom became the center of attention at Di’s cute-ceañeara that we first saw that Di wasn’t able to let it roll off her back the way Silver did. And it was a clever little bit of writing in CotLM that showed us that it was due to a cutie mark version of an existential crisis. Seeing Apple Bloom as “really lucky” is a seed that was potentially planted as early as Call of the Cutie. Di wasn’t fuming because she was right; she was fuming becauseshe knew that Twilight was right. Since Silver wasn’t as affected by Apple Bloom’s perceived good fortune to be a blank flank, she hopped right back into fun mode - only to find herself alone and derailed by a bad mood of DT’s; one which she didn’t share.
 
TL;DR Silver is out for a good time. If you are her friend and she crosses you, it’s unintentional… but if you cross her, she won’t put up with it. Chocolate milkshake, anypony?

Speaking of which, Spoon was in fits of laughter over all the pranks and abuse Babs was giving the CMC. She seems quite comfortable with antagonizing the CMC as much as Tiara was.
 
Don’t know about the comic, but Spoon in the show hasn’t really shown much remorse for her actions. Even in Raiders of The Lost Mark, she only got fed up with Tiara, because she wouldn’t listen to her, and was rude to her. She didn’t care much about Tiara being mean to others, until Tiara was mean to her.

I agree. While Spoon has her own mean streak, she is often the hanger-on that appeases the bully in order to avoid being bullied herself. She shows enough signs of remorse to convey that she isn’t really comfortable with DT’s behavior.

On an unrelated note, Stayin’ Alive by The Bee Gees is playing in the background and for some reason I pictured Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon as the girl scouts fighting each other in the bar scene from the movie Airplane!  
That image made me smile. :D

There’s a lot of little things that all seem to add up to it, at least the way I interpreted them. Like the way Silver Spoon never instigated any of the bullying, only followed along with what DT was doing, or that one scene in “Flight to the Finish” when SS wasn’t able to think of anything mean to do to the CMC without DT coming up with it for her. Plus the multitude of times it was demonstrated that DT was just as much of a jerk to SS as she was to anyone else.
 
It very well could just be me, but I’ve always gotten the impression from the show that Silver Spoon was never really all that bad.

I don’t see it really, aside from when she applauded Granny Smith. (And before that she was trying to embarrass Bloom. “Hiiii!”) I think Spoon is just as responsible for her own actions as Tiara is for her own. Plus, frankly we never really see Spoon without Tiara to really make that judgement.
 
I never really liked how fans always gave Spoon a free pass for her behavior, but don’t cut Tiara slack. I’m thankful the show didn’t go down that “Spoon good, Tiara irredeemable” route.

That would be my guess too. OP apparently doesn’t believe that people can behave differently depending on who they’re interacting with, the state of their health, and other external factors.

The ony thing I can see here is the at is somewhat better in the current comic or at least more detailed

I think that’s an animation error. Her braid just changes sides whenever she turns her head and it just so happened that they forgot to remove the braid while she was turning her head, so she looked like she had two braids instead of one.

I was careful not to use the term pigtails. In the scene when DT and SS walk away from AB and Twist, you can briefly see dual braids on Silver.
