I work in food service. I’ve seen gay couples (and regular couples) before. They always sit on the same side of whatever booth they’re in, while everyone who isn’t in relationships sat on opposite sides.
 
Honestly, I thought the one on the right was Neon’s father. They look like they’re related.

(My headcanon is that they’re long-separated twins who just found each other after Neon Lights discovered he was adopted and decided to go on a year-long quest through archives and records scattered around Equestria until he discovered his brother actually lived right across the street.)
