Hahaha! Thorax didn’t willingly give his love, he had to be freaking told to give it by Starlight. Before she told him, he was trying to hold onto it so don’t paste Mr. 2D as selfless. Plus he has no leadership skills. He’s a coward, volunteered no ideas and only showed up to help after the Crystal Empire had fallen.

The change didn’t give them free will they already had that and this show is tv y7 it’s not meant for toddlers, kids aren’t stupid they can understand and like this stuff as much as anyone else, this show has had great writing and good interactions and fairly adult messages that a lot of people were drawn to this season shouldn’t have been any different.

That’s the point in the whole change. To show they are not ony drones, that they can think, look and behave differently.  
You have to understand, they changed their looks mostly for children, because it’s easier that way.  
We may complain about things, but this is a kids show, and it’s created for them. And kids see colorful, bright creatures in “Oh, they must be good now, because they are no longer black” way. Remember, black is compared to evil, shadows, nightmares and all that stuff, so obviously if something is black is a kids show, it will probably be evil.

There’s nothing implying the other’s aren’t individuals either, those 4 prove they are individuals and there’s nothing special that makes them that way, it’s like human soldiers sometimes you see a soldier act differently but for the most part they act as a unit and do not deviate, they seem like drones but they have just as much individuality and free will as anyone else. The show doesn’t have time to go through every changeling and show us their personality, although the finale already kinda did as they chose to help Thorax expel magic once they saw they could do that Chrysalis didn’t order them to do that.

I’m glad DHX contacted you and explained the mechanations of how changeling love works but for the rest of us it was completely unexplained and was nothing more than the expulsion of magic, the show has used magic to reform or banish before however Luna was possessed it wasn’t actually her, and Tirek was just plain sent to hell and Sombra was killed. Discord and Starlight were presented with actual interactions that led to a natural reformation using magic to change others to your will doesn’t work with everyone and the Changelings are a prime example.
 
So when something doesn’t adhere to your side of an argument it just doesn’t count? Sorry but that’s not how evidence works as literally everything can be considered a joke in this show, the changeling with Pinkie does count so does Kevin and Thorax, they have individualism we can see it.

He was given love, yes, but he didn’t share love with anyone, especially with anyling. To trigger the transformation, one changeling must’ve shared love with another, or else it wouldn’t work. That’s why Chrysalis wasn’t transformed, she was given love, but she did not share it.
 
We had Kevin, Thorax, Chrysalis and hundreds of unnamed changelings, that looked the same and behaved the same. You can’t count changeling that pinkie had interactions with, because that was only a joke.
 
Fans were theorizing about Chrysalis’ return, and suspected that some changelings were good, instead of bad. In “The Times They Are A Changeling” we were introduced to Thorax, a changeling that was good, instead of bad. We also learned that the changelings were starving all the time, hence why Thorax was uncontrollably hissing sometimes. In the finale, when Starlight was making her speach, we saw that most(if not all) of the changelings were seriously considering what she was saying, but Chrysalis denied everything, saying that she is a good leader, even though everybody thought she wasn’t. In the end, Thorax became a leader not because he was created to be, but because he was the first one to overcome Chrysalis, and find a new way to live. Though Starlight did most of the work, none of the changelings would have made a move, because they were too afraid of Chrysalis.

I think they shouldn’t have even made Thorax to begin with or turned the changelings into different creatures or turn Chrysalis into a vanilla villain.
 
See my other post for the glowing wings, the toys being made first doesn’t excuse the poor writing or decision to make the changelings a different species, like I said I had feeling Hasbro planned this change that doesn’t make it okay though.
 
That makes no sense, we see them with free will you are inserting headcanon where canon already exists, we see them interact with ponies like Pinkie, or at matilda’s wedding which was confirmed as being a guest and even Thorax himself. The designs do nothing to add individuality to them other than some have wings and some don’t the colors are the same for some and they no longer have a contrast with anything else in the world, it’s also just the cliché looks define something as good or bad. They broke through the shield because it was weekened they Chrysalis literally tells us this was her plan, to weaken the shield from the inside so her army could get in. Them using their faces just shows they are goofy sometimes as we see with Pinkie.
 
He still caused the love bomb we see him expel the magic and then the others join but that still is a magic solve all solution because it’s literally magic, we had Starlight’s reformation to show magic isn’t always the best answer as well as a starlight episode with the same message only for the finale to ignore it and show us that in fact yes magic is the best way as it solves everything, it changed the changelings into being more like the ponies and ruining a great species many loved.
 
You can sit here all you want saying this change was great and you enjoyed it but not everyone did, some people liked the changelings some people wanted to see more of them some people looked forward to seeing them, that’s gone for a lot of us now. This isn’t one character gets wings (which I was fine with and felt was deserved) this is an entire race being changed completely and ruining any narrative value they had.

I never said the new appearance was inspired. I said Thorax’s actions inspired them to become individuals. I can’t believe I need to explain that.
 
I found the Twilicorn drama to be easily avoided, but everywhere I look I find hate for the new Changeling designs. So, by comparison, the Changeling drama is worse than the Twilicorn drama on account that I can’t avoid one no matter how I try and the other barely caught my attention aside from a few who forced the drama into places they shouldn’t be.
